Alex hated this time of year. It reminded him too much of when he’d been thirteen, and the Christmas he’d spent with his uncle Ian, skiing in Colorado. If Alex had only known at the time that it would be their last Christmas together… But he hadn’t known. He hadn’t known that Ian was a spy, or that he worked for MI6, or that within four months, Ian would be dead.

Jack called Alex a Scrooge because he refused to celebrate Christmas. She went around the house, singing Christmas songs and adding Bah Humbug to the end of each verse, trying to get him to smile. It was really quite funny, but Alex didn’t feel like laughing.

He refused to decorate the house, or buy presents, or send Christmas cards, or do anything that would remind him of how much he was alone. Sure, he had Jack to take care of him. And he loved her for it, he really did. He wouldn’t have risked his life infiltrating Sayle Enterprises as MI6’s replacement for Ian if it hadn’t been for their threats of prosecuting Jack for overstaying her visa. He’d do anything for her – except celebrate Christmas!

And there was one, and only one, person to blame for his being alone in this world now. One, and only one, person was responsible for taking his last living relative away from him: Yassen Gregorovich.

You should stay far, far away...Alex Ride was the first series since Harry Potter that I absolutely could NOT put down! Seven books so far, and ten planned.

Alex is a 14 year old spy, blackmailed into working for MI6. His 'enemy' is Yassen Gregorovich, a Russian assassin who is 19 years older than Alex.

They have lots and lots of chemistry; they're my secret obsession (just check out that icon - they're oozing sensuality!).

Alex: What about me?

Yassen (Damien Lewis with Russian accent): I had no instructions concerning you.

Alex: This doesn't change anything. You killed my uncle. You're still my enemy.

Yassen: I have a lot of enemies.

Alex (giving Yassen a threatening look): This isn't over.

Yassen: Yes, Alex. It is. (walks over close to Alex, hot breath in Alex's ear...) Go back to school. You don't belong to the same world as me. You should forget about me.

Alex (low and sensual): I'll never forget you.

Yassen (slightly amused, smirks): Ah, that's your choice.

Yassen walks back to the helicopter and takes off, Alex and Yassen giving each other smoldering looks as Yassen flies away into the sunset....

Yassen/Alex is canon!
