The desolate fog outside is back, gone is the strange manufactured forest and Holiday Doors. Outside, once again, there is nothing but a cold, endless, featureless fog. Inside the hotel, everything looks relatively normal...
The first day goes by like any other (relatively speaking), until midnight. Then, and every twelve hours for the rest of the week, an air raid siren from somewhere no one can exactly determine blares loud and sharp both inside and outside the hotel. The siren will call for a total of five minutes each time, during which the hotel shifts and warps, going from it's usual dated, but luxurious normality to a nightmare landscape of rot and decay; the electricity is unreliable at best, puttering out more than not.
The water is grimy and foul; the food in the kitchen is rotten and infested. The walls and floors are crumbling, and splattered with what could be mold, or blood. The air becomes thick with the smell of death, and ash. This is the Otherworld, the twisted realm of monsters created and fed by every scrap of fear, guilt, and deviousness in those found within the hotel- and they are always hungry. When the hotel is plunged into the Otherworld, the guest room doors are no longer as impregnable as usual. They can be punched through, or burned, or cracked with enough force. The PDA's still work and can serve as flashlights, but remember, the Things that live in the Otherworld can see it, too.
There are creatures lurking around the hotel in the Otherworld, beings of horror looking to feed, to terrorize, torture, and kill anything they can reach. In the Lobby and Lounge, the Nurses wait; they are blind, but are attracted to any noise above a whisper, and the warmth of bright lights. In the pool is The Lurk, and he has a long reach. In the laundry room and broiler room is the Janitor, a poor soul who became stuck in the Otherworld and wails for company. He will try to squeeze the life out of anyone who he can grab. The Elevator itself occasionally becomes an actual Death Trap; the ground around it literally cracks and tilts, sending anyone standing there straight into the grinder. This can happen on any floor. Finally, there is Pyramid Head, who stalks the hotel anywhere he pleases whenever the Otherworld is present, looking for Sinners to Punish. Creatures in the Otherworld can be killed, but they're a lot more durable than anything of normal flesh and blood, so be warned.
After twelve hours in the Hell of the Otherworld, the Siren calls again, and the hotel returns to its normal state. Characters who were injured during the Otherworld can rest (or bleed out), food can be eaten, water consumed... and then it starts all over again.
Mod Notes: This is a horror plot that has the potential for some serious triggering content; please be sure to gain player consent for EVERYTHING, and label all triggering scenes with the proper warnings. If you do not want your characters to deal with Silent Hill, they can be in the Hotel Coma, unharmed and unaware and unconscious in their beds throughout the plot- they will not remember anything. If you want to read about the world of Silent Hill, This is a good source.
Any new characters who show up at the hotel this week MUST show up while the hotel is in it's normal state, NOT in the Otherworld.
