Just looking to meet interesting people

I recently decided to start using IJ again and I'm looking for friendly, active, and most importantly DRAMA FREE friends! I'm very outgoing, open minded, and non-judgemental. I blog often and love to read entries and comment, and I would prefer to add people who enjoy doing the same thing.

Now a little about me:

I should begin by noting that I'm not in my 30's but I (for the most part) act it and prefer to interact with either older or more mature people.

I'm in my early twenties, and I live, work, and go to school in Toronto, Ontario. My life revolves around school, work, and my art. I'm an amateur nature and landscape photographer. I also paint, draw, write, read, alter clothing and make jewelry, style hair, etc... Also, I love cats, cigarettes, tea, dresses, shoes, purses, leopard print, and polka dots.

I'm interested in a variety of things including philosophy, buddhism, yoga and meditation, feminism, politics, religion and spirituality, history, travel, cooking, animals, nature, etc... I love to try new things, and I'll try ANYTHING once.

As far as my taste in music/movies goes:

Music: Anything gothic, brit pop, classic rock, 80's, punk, post punk, etc... For example, I love Nick Cave, Morrissey, Joy Division, Ladytron, Patti Smith, PJ Harvey, etc...

Movies: Anything horror, preferrably classic horror/black and white/silent films. I love anything Vincent Price and most of George A. Romero's movies, not counting Diary of the Dead because that was just awful. I was a fan of zombies before it was cool.

I post a lot of my photography, and a lot of photos of myself because I am vain. I'm not an alcoholic or a drug addict but I do enjoy the occasional beer or smoke. ;) Add me even if we have nothing in common!

What you miss about the "old days": The cruddy pixellated video games from the 80's and early 90's. I have too many emulation programs to count!

It was sad that I was going through my friends' list today and noticed how many people just stop posting after a while. Is the pull of LJ that great? Oy, I'd much rather have my thoughts heard by an interested few than feel like I'm trying to win some sort of popularity contest.

I'm a queer-identified polyamorous transwoman who doesn't identify as transgendered, so be forewarned. I like offbeat anime/manga, horror movies (retro or Asian), science fiction in most of its forms, music of all types (metal or techno especially) and am a gamer of the old, new and odd schools. If I sound like I'd be interesting to read or if you think we have much in common, feel free to friend me and give me a shout so I know you've done so.

AGE/SEX: 32 and male... that may be ancient, but I'm okay with that, heheh.

LIKES: music, FPS games, Call of Duty 4 and/or World At War, people (in general), Grateful Dead, Duane Allman, nostalgia, the paranormal, other than that it seems too many to list here... if anything, I'll mention more in my userinfo as time comes since I do forget I have other interests too. :)

DISLIKES: bigotry, rude/mean people, negativity, 'party poopers', trolls, hatemongers... though now I'm digressing.

LOOKING FOR: Anyone with humor, style, class, a freak flag too! I love anyone on here who can amaze me in a pinch. :) Of course, general happy people are a plus, I don't mind people who aren't similar to me either. A dash of opinion and difference does a world of wonder for me... consider me a bit starved for sociality, I really do appreciate anyone who is willing to talk with me from time to time.

ANYTHING ELSE: I was previously known as adaptoid on here nearly a year back because I wasn't quite ready for this... but now I am (definitely!). I'm just wanting to write again and to get active with my own asylum and to get active with InsaneJournal in general. :)

I have moved over from LJ, which, rumor has it, is going the way of the dodo.

I've already modified the LJ client I wrote and created:

I like to hack a bit, (duh), am a translator (speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and French, in about that order), am an artist and photographer, and also play guitar.
I'm a single dad, with a 9 year old daughter, a jack russel terrier, and two pet rats.

What you miss about the "old days":  It seems like most console games are clones of each other, and most focus more on graphics and body count than anything resembling plot.  Remember Miner 2049'er?  Boulder Dash?  Love 'em.

I was looking at my friends page and realized that I need more people to chat with, so I figured I'd try my luck here. I identify as a polyamorous queer woman and met my main partner almost 4 years ago. I recently started dating a second partner who is about 10 days younger than I am, and hanging out with someone who remembers all the same stuff that I do seems kinda weird. But I kinda like it. Hence this entry.

My interests include: singing, anime, Firefly, science fiction, the Final Fantasy games, alternative rock, reading, early Stephen King, Fringe, and console gaming.  I do occasionally ramble, followed by days of silence while I'm living life. I have odd fandoms and like to make people think. I'm political without being preachy and believe in everyone's right to individuality. I like to contemplate why people do and say the things they do.  If you've gotten this far in the entry, you should probably friend me already!

I have a stable life. The glass is half full, the tree would make a sound and the egg came first. I use a PC. I have no idea how you people afford Macs. I really don't.

I'm a realist and I read non-fiction. I like to learn something when I read. I also write on occasion poetry or flash-fiction. I post pictures of the cats who have enslaved me a lot. All hail praise to the glory of cats:)
