Cygnus Black ([info]fearedpatriarch) wrote in [info]accersitus,
Cygnus was just on his way to find his wife (the REAL Druella as far as he was concerned) when he saw his grandson angrily shoving a few books into his bag. "Going somewhere?" He asked, a look of amusement appearing on his face despite the fact that the fight with the younger, the LESSER Druella had threatened to put him in a foul mood all day.

"Anywhere but here if Grandpere is unkind to Meda." He was certain that he was overreacting, but Xander wasn't about to sit around and watch his sister be bullied. He'd rather convince her to go to another part of the castle, out of the castle entirely if it came to that, than to see her unhappy. Xander would willingly give up the chance to see one of his grandparents, even if they were dead in his time, than to sit there idly and let her be picked on.

Cygnus shared his skepticism. "Frederick wouldn't dream of being unkind to his own granddaughter." he promised, resting a gentle hand on the boy's back. "Come, I was just looking for Druella, perhaps we'll find Druella and Meda together, hmm?"

Xander relaxed a bit. His grandfather was right, as he normally was. It probably was something completely benign, something that he shouldn't worry about at all. Still, Meda might want him there for moral support, so he followed Cygnus.

But when they neared the common room things like restraint and self control flew out the window. Frederick's booming voice was thundering loud enough to be heard even outside of the open doors, and Xander broke into a run. Cygnus, though not running, quickened his step, cursing softly as he wondered just what was going on.

"Leave her alone!" Xander shouted, moving to stand between Meda and her paternal grandfather. He was every bit of the best that two families could offer, and he had fire and determination from both sides. "You don't get to curse at her and talk like that!"

Cygnus came into the room, closing the heavy doors behind him. This was a family matter, and it was private. "She's just a child, Frederick." he said, his voice soft, reasonable. "There's no need to shout at your own granddaughter in such a fashion. Let's talk about this like civilized people instead of like Muggles, shall we?"
