SUMMARY: Cygnus and Druella watch Frederick disappear and then follow shortly after him – straight into the past. IN-PROGRESS thread.
RATING: TBD

"This is absolutely ridiculous," Druella said, stopping in front of where Frederick was pacing, attempting to activate the Room of Requirement, "I sincerely doubt they are hiding in there and who would be foolish enough to hold them captive in there?" Unlike her husband and their dear friend, Druella held some reservations about Narcissa and Rabastan still being in the school, but despite that she certainly recognized the sensibility of checking the castle, so long as the search was sensible which, thus far, it had not been. She frowned, ever so slightly – a facial expression that, while mild, revealed the true extent of her distress to those who knew the true deceptiveness of all her outward mannerisms – when the door appeared, but stepped forward just the same.

"Those who will be very sorry for their actions," Frederick said, reaching for the door handle. And then he disappeared.

Rabastan and Narcissa's disappearance had thrown Cygnus for a loop, to say the least. Frederick's son seemed so responsible, and Cygnus knew that his own daughter wouldn't have wandered off to cause them all so much time and effort without a damned good reason. And he hated that. In that moment he wished that Narcissa were the type to run off in a fit of anger and stay missing for days because at least that would be some explanation. This..this was senseless, and the only solution that Cygnus could find was that something had happened to her and the Lestrange boy and that--that was something that he could never tell Druella that he feared.

He opened his mouth, near ready to suggest another spell to Frederick before the man just vanished. He didn't go into the room, he didn't disapparate, it was just that one moment he was there and the next he wasn't. It was unexplainable, just like the disappearance of the two teenagers.

"Frederick!" He called out for the man and lunged forward, knowing that the man was gone but still having to try. His hands flailed in the air before he groaned and reached for his wand, trying to remember the last spell Frederick had be trying to use.

"Cygnus!" Druella's normal calm was rattle slightly by her husband's lunge forward and her action of the same, only aimed toward restraining him. She gasped his shoulder, not letting go even once it became clear he intended to draw his wand instead of grasp the same door handle. "Do be cautious, we have no idea what enchantment lays upon the room now if it caused Frederick to vanish after only touching the door." After a moment, she let go, assured it was enough to curb impulsive action, then drew her own wand and approached the door warily.

Executing a half-circle, she moved to the side with the handle and leaned down, body held carefully away as she peered into the keyhole, finding only blackness on the other side, as though the room had no lights in it.

That they had no hint of what was on the other side of the door did not deter Cygnus as it perhaps should have, it drove him. He had been uncertain if their children were on the other side of the door up to and including the moment that Frederick disappeared. Now he had little doubt that somehow this door was pulling people inside...or perhaps something in there was pulling them inside? His jaw clenched, imagining what could happen to his Narcissa on the other side of the door.

Tracing his wand around the frame of the door, he tried to sense what was on the other side, what awaited them. He was tired of waiting, and being here just staring at a door like a simpleton. "Perhaps we should try it again." He said, his wand going up to duel whatever was on the other side of the door.

While Druella certainly did not lack imagination, she rarely, if ever, thought that anything truly awful could happen to her family. It happened to others, but not them. Rabastan, by extension of being with Narcissa, was likely fine as well. However, she did recognize Cygnus likely was giving in to his own imagination now. Sensing his impatience and knowing restraining him much longer might only result in a fit of temper – and truly, she was in no mood to repair or replace Hogwarts furnishings, their own were another matter – she nodded in acquiescence and took up his non-wand hand, her own wand held also on the defensive. It was a seemingly open gesture in appearance, but there was definite purpose and reason to it.

"Together, then, to minimize possible separation," she said, nodding toward the door knob.

Cygnus opened his mouth to ask her to stand behind him, where it would be safer, but he shut it a second later. She likely wouldn't listen, and they were wasting time arguing. Besides, they did have a point. Perhaps if this were some sort of trap she'd be out here alone, easily prey to something that might spring from the door after him, and he wouldn't allow that either. Damn all of this uncertainty.

Taking her hand, he reached for the knob with their joined hands. He let out a low curse when touching the knob failed to produce any results. He had honestly thought that the knob would turn, or at least let them inside or...something, but nothing was different, there they were outside of the same bloody door. "Well," he queried softly. "What now?"

At first, Druella's only reaction was a patient pause, as if expecting whatever was meant to come to happen, even on a delay. When nothing did, she looked up at Cygnus, uncertainty briefly registered in her gaze before she pulled their hands back. When she did, the door vanished, which was startling but possibly predictable. However, what was not predicable was their surroundings. The portrait next to the door had vanished as well and, upon a brief glance around, most of the corridor's décor was gone or changed.

"Dear Salazar," she gasped, the oath soft but, given than Druella did not often resort to voicing oaths of any kind in startled gasps, certainly vehement.

Cyngus's eyes grew wide noticing his surroundings change. Hearing his wife mutter the oath was startling as well, simply because she was such a lady that she did not often indulge in such things. "Come.." he said, his wand still at the ready but lowered to a slighly less obviously fierce position. He squeezed her hand. "Let's go see what manner of nonsense is afoot."

Steadily they began to walk toward the stairs, all the while he took in the small changes to the school. Something just wasn't RIGHT. And he couldn't place it, which made that more maddening.

It was when he got to the top of the stairs that he saw the boy. Rabastan. As the boy came into view, he had his head over his shoulder, talking to someone still just out of sight.

"So about this mysterious present, Father..."

"Rabastan!" Cygnus interrupted the teenager before he could finish his statement, and then Frederick was in view. Cygnus's eyes narrowed, wondering just what was going on. "Where is my daughter?"

The moment she spotted Rabastan, Druella moved forward to him, aware even as she did of Cygnus' question. Despite her concern for Narcissa, she had somewhat of a duty to Rabastan as well and it would not do to be so hasty. With slender, beringed fingers she grasped Rabastan's upper arms, studying him with quiet intensity for several long moments before giving him a betrayingly affectionate squeeze to his arms and setting him free of her grasp. Content he was well and not under the Imperius curse or any other obvious signs of harm or tampering, she turned her attention to the men.

Frederick, for his part, was enormously pleased by the sight of Cygnus and Druella. Though he had suspected it would be some time before they arrived, judging by the discrepancy of time between Narcissa and Rabastan's arrival, it had not been a fact that pleased him. The Founders had been of little use, Meda continued to regularly baffle him while Narcissa and Andromeda's conflict perpetually frustrated him, Bellatrix seemed destined to dislike nearly everything he said and did, Alexander regarded him with some amount of reproach he failed to understand and his sometimes companion was the teenaged version of his closest friend's wife. Granted, the Druella he knew and the one here were remarkably alike, the younger very capable and an intelligent companion, but it was hardly the same. The only normal, non-frustrating aspect was Rabastan, this time granting him glimpses of his son he would not have likely been given for some time yet in their own time.

"Your daughter is fine, old man," he said as he strode forward, clasping Cygnus' had with a force that betrayed his feeling.

Cygnus studied him for a moment, though his search was not as intense as his wife's had been to Rabastan because he wanted to believe Frederick, he wanted to believe that Narcissa was here and safe. Clasping Frederick's hand back just as hard, he sighed softly in relief. "Good. Because for a moment you had me a bit nervous, Frederick. Now, how do we find Narcissa, and how do we get back through the door, it seems to have disappeared."

Rabastan gave Druella a smile, glad to see a familiar face that was the proper age, but then he groaned. This process of explaining things never did seem to go well, as evidenced most recently by the near apocalpse that had come with his own father's arrival and Bellatrix's...disapproval. "You both might want to sit down." He suggested. "It's a rather long story."

"Indeed," Frederick agreed, all ready anticipating the gamut of things that would be felt and said at the explanation of their situation and all the individuals who were here.

And then a shout broke both the slight silence and possibly the sound barrier.

"XANDER, XANDER, XANDER, IT'S THEM!"

It was, of course, Meda, who had been on her way upstairs with Xander to meet their grandfather for stage two of the distraction they had coxed him in to helping with for Rabastan's birthday. Narcissa and Druella were nearly done with decorations for the party they had planned, so they would not have to stay upstairs long. The shout came as she came to a screeching halt at the top of the stairs and and then, thinking not on the fact these people would have no idea who she was or that really, she should not run about screeching at the top of her lungs in front of people she knew would likely disapprove or that one did not physically launch oneself at armed wizards, Meda threw herself at Cygnus with an uproarious squeal of delight.

Beside Cygnus, Frederick 's eyes rolled skyward, a low groan escaping him even as his free hand moved out to prevent Cygnus from any instinctive defensive gestures should it be necessary.

Cygnus froze when he saw the girl running at him, a stern frown forming on his face almost instantly. What on earth was she going to do, attack him? But then her arms were around him and, as he stiffened, he wasn't sure just what to do. Did one push her back and assert that such things just weren't done with strangers in polite society? Did he remain there stoically until she saw the error of her own way?

"Meda..." Bastan said softly, "he doesn't know yet, he..."

"Meda..." Xander's voice interrupted his father's, but it was softer. "Be careful, they have to explain things to him still, remember how it was when Grandfather first showed up? We have to take things slowly."

Grandfather? Who was this child's grandfather? Cygnus shook his head. The thought was not important enough to dwell on, not with Nar--

A cursory glance down at the child embracing him stopped him cold. Her features were much softer than Narcissa's, but there was something in the girl that spoke of his daughter, she looked rather similar to the way Narcissa had once looked when she was still a cherubic faced young girl. A second glance told him that the girl looked a bit more like his own wife than his daughter, but that...that was impossible. He felt faint but somehow he stayed on his feet. Indeed, he didn't even ask Meda to release him, just looked down at her with a hard, somewhat confused look. "An explaination, Rabastan, Frederick...or even these two can offer an explaination. Please."

Clearing his throat, Frederick quickly evaluated what to say, how much to it to say and how much time he had to determine such things. A sharp look from Druella reduced that time by half in his mind.

Staring at the two before her, Druella began to piece things together even before Frederick spoke, at least in part, as the reference to their 'grandfather' and his arrival, Frederick's odd reaction to the girl's antics – for a stranger, if this was a child he knew, it was less odd but far more puzzling – and the boy's clear mark of Lestrange parentage made some conclusions sit far in front of the pack of possible explanations.

"We are in the past," Frederick said, deciding mincing words would do them no good and might even set off someone's temper which, given the family relation of all involved and thus the shared personality characteristics, could be a disaster in the making. "We have been pulled back to the era of the Founders, and we are not alone. There are others here who have come from times before us and times after us, such as these two. Cygnus, Druella, this is Alexander and this is Meda. They are Rabastan and Narcissa's children from the future." The details of times and realities and the rest could wait for the moment.

"Hi." Still not letting go, Meda beamed up at Cygnus before hugging him tightly. Yes, in all fairness, she should be gentler with him as he had just learned everything, but having him here, holding the flesh-and-blood man who she had never known beyond his portrait, was amazing.

While Druella had begun to suspect there was some impossible strangeness to do with family relations at foot, the idea of all that was still more than just a small shock. "I think I shall take that seat now," she murmured faintly.

Xander moved forward swiftly at his grandmother's words, conjuring a chair and helping her take it. "I know it's a lot to take at first." He said apologetically. "Meda..." He sighed, seeing that the girl still hadn't unhanded Cygnus, who wasn't looking so stable himself. "I apologize for her, she's missed everyone very much." There, that wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the glaring damning truth either.

Cygnus looked down at the little urchan who was still clinging to him, and then to Frederick. Had everyone lost their mind? "Narcissa has no children..." he said swiftly, giving Rabastan a cool look. "Unless he has taken advantage of this change in circumstances to do something to harm her, in which case you know, Frederick, I would be...less than pleased." He shook his head. "She's still in Hogwarts, it's impossible that she would have children of this age." He should have listened to his own heart, or more accurately his instincts. The fact that the girl--because he refused to learn her name and know her and grow attached before he knew for sure what was going on-- had rushed at him and threw herself at him, and yet she lived. That enough should have been evidence of something extraordinary.

Rabastan, thankfully, said nothign to defend himself. There and been enough arguements when his own father came, and he had no desire to insight one.

Meda, however, had no such reservations about defending her father, as usual. "Grandperé!" she chided, looking utterly scandalized as she released Cygnus and put her hands on her hips. She glared up at him, bright blue eyes full of her mother's fire as they narrowed. "Dad would never hurt Mum and he certainly wouldn't take advantage of her and, honestly, do you think I've been magically gestated and aged or something to be the age I am now despite Mum and Dad only being here a few months?"

"Meda, for the love of all that is quiet and calm in the world, be silent," Frederick said sharply, having been about to help Druella but stopped when he saw Alexander doing so already, using the moment to study his grandson before Meda had distracted him. Much to his continued bafflement, she did not simply obey but glared at him too. He cast a telling glance at Rabastan, as if to say 'do something about your daughter' and then addressed Cygnus before Meda could resume.

"In 1974, our children had no children and are barely older than children themselves, yes," he said, then nodded to the children, "but Alexander and Meda are from the future." Now how far in the future, that was for a discussion when it was he and Cygnus were alone because of his fears about their children waiting so long, fears that Cecelia was some portrait in 2020 and not simply a happily aged woman given Meda's reactions when the talk of portraits were brought up, resignation that he was a portrait as well despite no one specifically having said so due to the way Meda greeted Cygnus versus how she had greeted him (leaving out entirely his behaviors that might have been a sound reason for her reaction had he considered it) and fears that perhaps Druella also had not fared well given the younger Druella's reticence on the subject, though far harder to recognize than with Meda, who had a dangerously open face at times.

Through all this, Druella had simply listened without comment, doing no more than quietly thanking Alexander for his solicitous manner. When Frederick finished speaking, she turned to look at the boy next to her fully, though 'man' would have been a more appropriate description. "That was very impressive wand work, Alexander," she said, indicating her chair, before moving on to her question. "now what is this about Rabastan and Narcissa being here for months?"

Xander smiled down at Druella. She was everything he always imagined that she might be, maybe even more. She was so put together and organized and even more like his mother than she was in her portrait. Of course, none of that could be said, not now. "Time here works different." he said as simply as he could. "A few minutes in the time we came from could be a few weeks her, maybe more, maybe less. I'm not sure how or why but Dad and..." A sharp look from Cygnus made him reconsider his words. "F...Rabastan and Narcissa were here for a little bit and then Meda showed up. She didn't think that anyone else was coming but then I was here and..." He trailed off, as it got more complicated when he expanded things from the small circle of his immediate family. It became a virtual landmine of relationships when you considered Andromeda and the younger Druella and everyone else.

Cygnus blinked. He blinked again. Looking between Frederick and the boy, he gaped. "The future?" he quarried, looking apprehensive.No...that was impossible. "Frederick, I'm growing tired of this little joke of yours. Alright, you have made your point, where's Narcissa?"

Frederick voiced a somewhat indignant snort of dry amusement and shook his head. "Yes, I had this entire thing planned from the very beginning," he said, then did his level best to look extremely stern and disapproving when that made Meda switch from defensive to quiet giggling.

"Cygnus, do be reasonable," Druella said, rising from her chair now that her composure was regained, beckoning Alexander to follow as she rejoined the tightly gathered group. "When have you known Frederick to engage in elaborate games at your expense, simply for amusement? I see no reason why he or Rabastan or these children would lie. Now, I would like to see Narcissa and then return us all to our proper times and I cannot do that with you and Frederick at odds."

"Brilliant," Meda gushed in a hushed voice, her focus now on Druella. Just like younger Grandmeré, she had accepted everything she had been told and was on her way to fixing things.

Cygnus groaned, realizing that he was being rather foolish. It was just too much to swallow at once, the time jump and the fact that Frederick had remained here with everyone else. Unless there was no alternative but to remain here...perhaps though that conversation was best saved for private.

"You're right." He said quickly, nodding and moving to stand next to his wife. "And so is Druella. We should fetch Narcissa and then all of us can go back where we came from."

Xander stared in awe at Cygnus and Druella. They looked so natural together, something that he hadn't fully appreciated in the portraits before. This was, as Meda had put it, indeed very brilliant.

Bastan, however, didn't quite agree. Oh yes, this was probably going to go downhill fast. There was the Andromeda thing, and the not going home thing, and the them being dead thing...so many things to decide when and if and how to tell them and it made his head spin.

Relieved that had passed without incident, Frederick gestured toward the stairs. "Perhaps we should move downstairs to more comfortable quarters to continue all of this, the Founders have discouraged mixing with the individuals of this time and so have set up a dormitory and commons for our use. We can discuss-"

"MUM! LOOK!" Meda had spotted Narcissa coming up the stairs, no doubt looking for them to tell them the task of distracting Rabastan was over, and ran to her with the gait and enthusiasm of a bounding puppy. When she reached her, she threw an arm around her mother, Narcissa reciprocating even as she looked where Meda pointed. "They're finally here!"

Relief that Druella was not aware she would feel, having not thought anything had truly happened to Narcissa, filled her just the same at the sight of her daughter, any doubt she might have had about the idea of her daughter having children ended with the affection she bestowed upon Meda.

For Narcissa, there was momentary hesitation, for she had known and cared for those from alternate realities, but thinking the parents she had longed for might be from some other place and time than her own was too much. She studied the two, looking for anything that might be a telling warning that they were different, but there was nothing she could see visibly. Tentatively, she moved forward, paying no mind to Meda all but bouncing around her, obviously expecting a joyful reunion.

Cygnus was quite relieved to see his daughter come into sight. Perhaps he should have been cautious, thought that perhaps this wasn't his daughter, but the thought never came. He saw Narcissa, saw his little girl, and started to walk swiftly toward her.

"Are you alright?" He put his hands on her arms, holding her at arms length for a moment to observe her, looking for signs of injury or illness or just plain unhappiness. Momentarily assured that she wasn't in dire danger, he sighed and pulled her close quickly. "Thank the gods." he muttered softly, holding her a little too tightly before he released her. "You worried us a good deal, Narcissa, we've been searching the grounds for you for some time."

Xander nodded, watching Narcissa and Cygnus out of the corner of his eyes. "You've a point, Grandfather." He nodded in Frederick's general direction. "Everyone might be more comfortable in our quarters."

Cygnus' reaction was everything Narcissa needed to know and she moved into his tight embrace with a quiet, though intensely joyful, exclamation of "Papa!" as she nodded her head, the only answer to his question for now. She drew back, her look slightly reproachful but still so happy. "I did not do it intentionally, Papa!" She looked away briefly, her eyes meeting Druella's to find her mother smiling quite more than was typical in a group containing people she did not know at all. She moved slightly in Cygnus' embrace, as though uncertain whether she should wait and hug Druella later or give in to the impulse now.

"Oh, come here," Druella murmured, drawing Narcissa into the comfort of a mother's embrace, the soft scent of her mother a lifelong thing of comfort. Narcissa held her close for several long minutes before stepping back slightly, looking up at both of them with a brilliant smile as she kept one arm around Druella and slid the other back around Cygnus.

"Oh Papa, Maman, I am so glad you have come at last," she said fervently.

"Me too!" Meda said, clearly blissfully, which drew a laugh from Narcissa as she pulled back, drawing Meda close as she beckoned Alexander closer.

"Papa, Maman, you have met Xander and Meda then?" she asked, tucking an arm into Xander's, the gestures maternal despite the "children" being near her age in this situation.

Cygnus watched his daughter carefully with the other two. Truth be told he didn't want to see any huge similarities between the three of them, because that would mean that this was all true, and that...that was unthinkable. However, the characteristics that couldn't be explained through Narcissa were explained by the Lestrange boy and their extended families, and so there was very little that could be argued with.

"Yes..." he said softly, "we met just before you came in, darling."

Rabastan was studying everyone as well, though his intention was to keep a lose eye on Cygnus and Druella. They seemed to be warming up tot he children now, but if something should go amiss Rabastan wouldn't see them harmed.

Xander gave his grandmother and grandfather a sort of 'hello' nod, though he had already met them, wanting to make certain they knew that he was polite. It was odd, he hadn't imagined that this would effect him so, and yet here he was, worrying about what sort of impression he was making and hoping that he didnt' disgrace hsi mother and father permanently.

"Are they not wonderful?" Narcissa said softly, drawing both slightly closer. She could sense Cygnus' reluctance and did not want the disorientation of time travel to turn into a permanent opinion of who he met.

Meda's smile was impish as she moved closer to Cygnus again. "I still don't think Grandperé believes us," she said, then promptly launched into a recitation of words his portrait had used to first teach her multiple languages, an almost elementary song sort of recitation meant to familiarize a person with the differing vocalics between the languages, such as Mermish. When she was finished, she folded her hands behind her back and moved her shoulders side to side, quite smug and definitely thrilled just by the chance to do that with the actual man in front of her. "You taught me that, in case you're wondering. You are the only person I've ever known who speaks that many languages, after all."

Behind her, Narcissa beamed with the sort of maternal pride Druella could recognize very well, for it was a feeling she had right now to know her daughter would someday raise such lovely children.

"How charming," she murmured, sliding her arm through Cygnus', bestowing a pleased smile on Meda, who only looked more thrilled, if it were possible. "So it seems you had an apt language pupil as last, Cygnus. Meda with her lovely diction and Alexander with his excellent wand skills, why we could not have asked for better grandchildren, would you not agree, Cygnus? Frederick?"

"Ah, of course, Druella. They present themselves well on first meeting," Fredrick observed, then stifled a chuckle as Meda turned on him. She truly did have a mix of Rabastan and Narcissa's tempers.

"We only get better the longer you know us," Meda told him indignantly and then turned back at grinned at Cygnus and Druella. "Grandperé Lestrange is just sore because no one is yelling at you during your arrival and he didn't have the same easy time. Isn't that right?"

"Incorrigible imp," Frederick grumbled, arching a heavy eyebrow at her.

It was odd, but pride appeared in Cygnus's eyes when Meda recited those words--words he clearly remembered his own father teaching him a long time ago, but evidentally he had expanded on it for Meda, tossing in languages his own father had not known and other bits here and there. Not a man to give out empty praise, when he said well done he meant it, and in this case, he did.

"Good job." His words were steady and even, not just some loud empty sentiment. "You learned well. You are right, Meda, you do indeed get better when someone knows you a bit longer."

Cygnus grew suspicious at Meda's last words, however. Someone had been yelling at Frederick's arrival? Well that was less than ideal, because it hinted at discord and conflict, something that he didnt' want to have to deal with when they should be focused on returning home. "Is something going on here?"

"No, Grandfather. It's just A..."

A sharp look from bastan silenced Xander, as Bastan knew full well the distress that the Black family from his time felt for Andromeda. No, now wasn't likely the time to bring up her childlike presence. "Just a child." Bastan finished. "When you two have been here longer you should meet the first years that we have here. They're quite entertaining and fierce on occasion."

Frederick shook his head at Rabastan, stepping forward. "They will have to know, Rabastan, and sooner is preferable to later," he said, turning to eye his friends, even as he noted Narcissa opening her mouth to protest. "Cygnus, Druella, we are not the only ones here, there are younger versions of-"

"PAPA!" In a flurry of sunshine yellow robes – the younger Druella's recent work after having developed the same ideas about attiring the three Black daughters as her elder self – the miniature Andromeda barreled into Cygnus' legs, sobbing in relief.

Reeling back slightly as if hit herself, Druella could only stare down in frozen shock at the perfect youthful replica of her lost daughter. Her heart clenched and her hand went out, contacting and holding the person she found, but unaware of who was now at her side for her gaze never left the sobbing child clinging to Cygnus.

"Oh Papa," Andromeda wailed, "it's been so awful, everything is all wrong and I haven't liked it because everyone is the wrong ages or acts strange and MAMAN!" The second shriek of joy came as Andromeda lifted her head to look at Cygnus and spotted Druella. "Oh Maman, you've come to!" Moving around Cygnus, Andromeda clung to his leg and Druella's skirts, sobbing in earnest.

Releasing Meda and Alexander, Narcissa watched the scene with an open look of horror. She had wanted to stop Frederick before he told them, but Andromeda's entrance had made even that action moot. She did not, however, reach for Andromeda to pull her off, simply stepped back as the quick beat of feet behind her alerted her to the arrival of another child to shock her parents, albeit less than Andromeda would prove to be. The damage had already been done, that much was clear.

Cygnus stiffened when Andromeda threw herself at him. At first he didn't realize just who it was, because in his mind Andromeda was far older and a painful thing to even think about, but then it hit him like a strong curse and he KNEW. He pushed her back just a bit, so that he could kneel down next to her, his eyes wide and hopeful. If she were indeed a child she wouldn't have run away with that bastard waste of a man. If she were a child he would have no reason to not cherish her and love her as he always had. "Andromeda?" He had never wanted to believe that she would run away, sacrifice her family for that idiot man, never wanted to pretend that she was dead or a ghost just to make it through the day, but there had been so much hurt and disappointment and embarrassment, and yes, anger, that it was easier.

It was there for them all to see, she was his little girl through and through. Letting out a quick sigh of relief, he pulled her very close. "Oh Andromeda, how we've missed you." He could never explain to her why they had truly missed her, he knew that, but this was one moemnt where he could show it.

"Did you miss me, Maman, Papa?" The other girl's voice was quieter, more composed, but eagerness showed in her eyes. She didn't want to get too excited too quickly, a naturally cautious child when it came to excitement. She wouldn't be excited until she knew for sure that this was HER Maman and Papa, or at the very least a friendly one.

"Of course they missed you," Xander said softly, feeling oddly protective of his aunts. "Go say hello."

Bastan moved to Narcissa, knowing how hard it was for her sometimes to be in the same room with Andromeda, knowing everything that had occurred with her and the older version and with this girl's childish innocence. "You alright?" He asked her softly.

Even amidst Andromeda's sobbing, Cygnus' reaction and words impacted, albeit not in the way intended. After all, if he missed her, clearly he had to be her Papa! "You're not Cissy's Papa? HOORAY!" she shrieked, jumping up and down as she hugged his neck tightly. "This is so wonderful! Can we go home now, please Papa? I want to go back where Cissy is the right age and likes me, because this Cissy doesn't like me very much and no one will tell me why!"

Narcissa, about to answer Rabastan, caught the gist of Andromeda's continued joyful shrieking and shut her eyes tightly. "I need to go downstairs, Maman needs to be told they are here," she finally whispered to him, clearly evasively and her voice strangely pitched, then turned on her heel. She would not stand by and see her parent's hopes and hearts raised only to be broken and crushed again when they returned to a home where Andromeda was no longer. That her parents would no doubt take great joy in having a small Andromeda to cuddle and lavish attention on was a sore point, one born partially out of a jealousy and no longer being the baby of the family in this strange place.

Druella's gaze moved from Andromeda to Bellatrix. The question could be answered quite honestly but Druella would not answer it deceptively and confuse Bellatrix as Andromeda seemed to be confused, though the idea of them belonging to a specific daughter was troubling. After all, Bellatrix and Andromeda had never disappeared as children. But these children clearly recognized them and if they were not specifically the daughters they had raised, they were still entirely their children.

"Of course we have, it has been many years since we last saw you like this," she said, smiling at Bellatrix as she stepped forward. "But I rather think that was not what you meant precisely, was it? Still, no matter, for I am very happy to see you, dearest, and see that you are well." Bending now, she pulled Bellatrix into an embrace.

Rabastan nodded. "I'll go with you." He said, not liking the idea of Narcissa wandering off by herself just now with the way she had to be feeling. He was fairly certain that Meda and Xander were elated at the notion of their grandparents arrival and likely wouldn't even notice they had left.

Cygnus considered his words very carefully. "I'm your Papa, AND Cissa's papa. I came from Cissa's time but I remember you when you were this age, I remember you when you were even smaller than you are now." Oh what he wouldn't give to make the Andromeda at home this age again! If he could keep this one, if he could teach her the lessons that prevent her from running away, well perhaps he'd never go back to his proper time! "I can be your father and Narcissa's as well. Now what's this about Cissa not liking you?"

Bellatrix's eyes went wide, not sure she liked that at all. This wasn't her Maman, even though she looked it. This was not her Maman, not the one who had always seemed to make things right. She went to take a step back, but then she was in her mother's arms, at least, the arms felt like her Maman's arms, but they weren't her Maman's. Uncharacteristically, she sniffled. "I want my Maman." She said, her voice cracking. "Why does Cissy get her Maman and I don't! Mister Lestrange has been so mean and there are so many Mamans here but none of them is mine and none of them understand and I. want. her."

Andromeda's lip began to tremble violently, the sobs that might have abated now increasing again. "You're Cissy's Papa? Not my Papa? Oh, I bet you won't like me either and no one will even say why! I hate this place and I hate how strange everyone is and I just want to go home!" she wailed, clearly distressed now where before her tears had been joyful. It stood to reason that if Narcissa had been so strange and so had Rabastan before he had stopped being so, her parents were likely to be as well and really, it wasn't fair they all could be like that without at least telling her why!

Without another word, Narcissa simply nodded at Rabastan and then turned and made her way toward the stairs. The only reaction form her retreating from was a wince when her father spoke to Andromeda, for it confirmed what she had feared. It quickened her step slightly, only enough to be detectable to one walking even with her, and then she descended the stairs, leaving the scene behind. At least, that was her intent, until she say the younger Druella moving up the stairs as well. Had everyone been compelled to converge on the scene?

She moved to the younger version of her mother and a short explanation followed, in which Narcissa, despite her want of such a thing, found herself moving right back up the stairs in pursuit of Druella. Differing ages was one thing, it was quite another for two of the same person to come face to face.

Druella cast a reproving glance over her shoulder at Frederick, who held his hands up as if silently protesting the accusation. It still baffled him that this child was constantly combative with him, as he had never remembered that of her at this age, or perhaps it was simply that it had been directed elsewhere in the past. It was not enough to make him wish for others to distract her, for he was not certain he could survive if younger children began appearing everywhere, but the idea of less vehemence turned toward him was certainly pleasing to contemplate.

Gaze moving back to Bellatrix, Druella hushed her automatically, wanting to stem the possible onslaught of temper before it started, which would only exacerbate the whole situation. "Bella, I know you-"

"Oh no, Xander, it's Grandmeré," Meda said in an unintentional stage whisper, which brought Druella's gaze up again, frozen when the gaze that met hers... was her own, from years ago.

Cygnus shushed Andromeda, kneeling on the floor so that he could look her eye to eye--at least, as close to that as one could be when the other person was sobbing. "I am your Papa too, Andromeda. I was your papa when I was this age, and I..." Cygnus paused, as such things weren't necessarily meant for public ears. He lowered his voice. "I love you, I don't hate you. Papa is here now. Everything will be al--" His words trailed off when he heard Meda's stage whisper and looked up. For a moment he was foolishly concerned that his wife had somehow been de-aged, but a swift look to her satisfied him that she was still fine. He just stared at her for a long moment. He remembered her looking like that quite well. It was completely surreal, to look at his wife and then at the way his wife had looked as a Hogwarts student. So...odd.

Xander groaned, noticing Druella as well. "Grandmother, Grandfather, I'd like you to meet Druella Rosier. This is just another example of what this place can do, bring in several different copies of people at odd ages." It wasn't the introduction that they likely deserved, or even the one that needed to be said, really, it was just a hasty introduction after the fact.

Bellatrix's reaction was not quite so composed as Xander's. "Maman!" Despite their differences of opinion in decorum and other things, Bellatrix was definately fond of her younger mother as well. "Maman, come and see...Cissy's Maman is here!"

Bastan groaned behind Narcissa, watching the scene unfold. Yes, perhaps this way of introducing them wasn't the best of ideas.
