Characters: Allison "Dazzler" Blaire and Jamie "Multiple Man" Madrox (the good one) Location: Allison's Hospital Room Timeline: Present Description: Allison is paranoid OOC: Hey, Nick, if MM is still laid up in the medlab we can retcon something for that -- I just wanted to get this posted.
The day after her attack she was found by the cleaning lady in a heap at the bottom of the staircase. She thought that Allison was dead...could have been...might have been. She was unconcious for three more days as good as dead to the world. Just as well to not have to worry about the spin story her record label was trying to put on it while there was still mystery shrouding her "accident." She still wasn't with it; but that's what happens when you land on your head or have a morphine drip.
She was moved into a private room and her friends and family had done their best to make the space not seem so sterile and unpersonal. There was a stack of magazines on the bedside tables, toys and pictures from home. Then along side of the opposite wall flowers and balloons, from fans who were obviously concerned about the rocker. All the stuff was hardly a distraction from the very broken Dazzler laid up in the hospital bed. Whatever it was that happened, there was a real number done on Allison. Her injuries included a broken arm that was elevated in a sling, a busted kneed that rested on several pillows, a multitude of cuts and bruises, most notably a dark plum mark that spread down the side of her face and a bandage that encircled her head.
Right now she was sleeping, having no more energy than to be up only a few hours at a time, tucked into the hospital bed and snoozing peacefully.
It hadn't taken long for news of the accident to spread up to the mansion. Hell most of the kids were talking about it now and Jamie was worried. Their meeting didn't end well last time and he couldn't stand to have another person die withouth saying how he felt. All this was distracting him from the real issue at hand, security. They probably didn't know she was a mutant and if he showed up, what was he suppose to say, 'Hey I'm a friend from this mutant school in Westchester. Can I visit her?' No. They'd probably just look at him. So he donned an EMT outfit and entered the hospital.
It didn't take him long to flirt with one of the nurses enough that she gossiped about the strung out rocker upstairs. Moving through the halls with his cap pulled low he arrived on said floor. He scoped the place out and found a lab coat and he put his stethoscope around his neck. He signed a log in a loopy writing style common for all doctors before moving to the room. When he entered he came face to face with a tall guard who looked more like a bouncer than anything. "Sorry Doc, I'm gonna need a name.." The officer said.
"Oh, of course. Doctor Huxtable." He said with a friendly smile and the guard stared at him. The guard picked up a clip board and checked the list.
As he flipped through the pages the guard seemed surprised. His hand went for his nightstick as he started speaking, "I'm placing you under--" A quick jab to the neck silenced the guard and he knocked the mans feet from under him.
Madrox held the guard in a tight sleeper hold until he passed out. Moving slowly to the bed there was a sharp intake of breath as he saw the extent of the damage. "Oh god. Ali.."
There were a select few that had known the truth: that she was attacked and beaten in her own apartment. Those included herself, the doorman and the x factor. After speaking with the doorman, the police had an inkling this was no accident. There hands were tied at the moment until they spoke with Allison. Unfortunately, she was in a major stupor. The record released a statement which neither confirmed or denied that this was an accident..to them it simply was. The media...the gossip columnists were having a field day: drunken rocker takes trip down stairs...
While Multiple Man and the guard tussled outside Allison continued to sleep deeply and dreamlessly. Only when Jamie approached did she murmur something under her breath and her finger twitched from underneath the cast on the suspended arm.
Jamie's hand shook a little and he clenched it into a fist to keep it from shaking. "Who could have done this.." He asked of no one in particular and brushed some hair that was hanging in her face to the side. His touch was gentle and as he took a seat next to her bed, he rested his arm and chin on the bars that were connected to her bed.
Madrox had to keep himself calm because he couldn't get angry right now, especially not here. Anger clouding his judgement was not good at this time. He swore to himself though that he'd find who ever did this and make them pay.
Her face lifted to his touch as her breast swelled with breath and she shifted and murmured something else. Allison's mouth fell open as she nuzzled the pillow with her head. There was something different about her..not noticable at first..it was her piercings..they were all gone. Another short quick breath was taken in and she seemed to rattle herself from her sleep. One eye barely opened, her vision was all dewey and thick with sleep. Her free hand was pressed against her face to clear her vision. Her eyes opened and lolled around in her head as hospital room came into focus, still unaware of Jamie's presence.
It felt like a weight had been lifted from his chest when her eyes opened. Part of him thought that she might not wake up and he couldn't deal with that possibility. Madrox couldn't let the last thing that was said between them were the harsh words that were spoken. He smiled and trailed his fingers down her arm to her hand. "Hey beautiful.. You sleep well?"
At the sound of his voice she knew. Blue hues locked onto Madrox before darting around the room wildly. And when he touched her, Allison stiffened and pulled out of his reach. Perhaps there was something warm about that touch once upon a time, now it only elicited pain and fear. She swallowed her voice dry and tight with rising panic, but she croaked out, barely audible, "N-no..get out...go away!" Her face flushed red and hot and her eyes grew moist and stingy. Al rubbed gave quick rub to ebb the developing tears before groping the folds of the bed looking for the clicker to page the nurse. He had come back and now he was going to finish her off. Another ragged breath was taken in and a bit louder, "Please don't..get out of here!"
One moment Jamie had been sure of himself, he was going to be here for Ali and help her get through this. The next? She was pulling away from him and begging as if she was terrified for her life. Something wasn't adding up here. "Ali what--" He stood up trying to get a hold of her so she didn't hurt herself in her thrashings. "Whats wrong with you? Why are you freaking out like this?" He noticed the tears and was even more confused. Maybe she was just panicking after a nightmare or something. "It's okay Alison. I'm here now. I'm not gonna let you go."
There was no strength in her to struggle against him and her thrashing was easily came to a hault. She sniffed deeply and swallowed holding her breath for a moment. Her composure held as her eyes weld with tears, but Allison didn't cry. She could feel her chest beating harshly in her chest and was sure that everyone could hear it too. "Why are you here? Why are you doing this to me?" Her lower lip quivered and she snagged it in her teeth clenching down on it. The last time she was unprepared, this time she knew exactly what was coming. "I didn't do anything to you..I...I..." Even if she had the energy to use her powers against him she couldn't..not here in the hospital..it would be to risky. The exposure as a mutant would be no good, plus it would react with all sorts of medical equipment. "Don't kill me.."
Jamie was holding her to him, it was something his dad did when he had nightmares as a kid. It was a comfort tactic and yet it didn't seemed to be working on Ali. He tried his best to stroke her hair or anything that might get her to relax but nothing seemed to work. She was just too terrified. "Alison.. Alison! Listen to me, it's going to be alright. Who did this too you?" He leaned down so his face was near hers and he could look her in the eyes. His hands were on either side of her head, one on her shoulder the other on her neck. "Ali, I'm here for you.."
She tried to steady her breath, but when he touched her so intimately on the neck her fragile composure cracked and Allison did indeed began to cry. She blinked her eyes rapidly as the tears ran down her face, "You did," she said, thinking that's what he wanted to her hear. To have her confess that this was his handy work so he could gloat and now it was more than her body that was broken. Maybe he got off on all of that stuff. In a last ditch effort her hand groped within the sheets for the clicker. Her hand grasped the square plastic remote finally, but her hand was shaking and she fumbled around with it before paging the nurses station.
"Wh-what?" Those two simple words hit him like a slap in the face. Jamie pulled back from her as if disgusted that he had the nerve to touch someone he hurt. He stared at his hands for a moment then looked at her. "I..I did?" That weight that seemed to lift when he found out she was alright? It was back known and it had brought a couple friends.
He just stared at her in disbelief and was oblivious to the nurse who had come in. It wasn't until said nurse called for help that he became aware of her presence. He had done it. He had done it? How was that possible? Very easy Jamie. You can make copies of yourself. A little voice seemed to respond. Two male orderlys rushed him and grabbed his coat roughly. They tried to twist Madrox's arms behind his back but they met resistance. Suddenly it all made sense and at the moment Jamie didn't need to be locked up. He had to find.. well.. himself and stop him.
Jamie broke free of the men's grasps and with a few well aimed jabs and kicks he put them down for the count. The mutant wrenched open the window and escaped out onto the ledge leaving the scared and frightened Alison behind as well as the unconscious bodies of three men. Oh god, this was going to look very badly on the news...
