With the secretary of defence now at his mercy, Magneto could take one of two steps: he could use the secretary to his advantage or use him to mar the name of his former second in command. Both of which were tempting.
If there was war to be had then there was work to be done and any good commander knew the benefits of tarnishing reputation, especially in their anti-mutant society. The secretary’s death by the hands of Mystique and her group could be exactly what was needed, to turn attention away from the Brotherhood to the new fledgling group.
Or even better, a planted psychic suggestion that he had in fact been taken by Mystique and subjected to hours upon hours of torture. There was nothing like a little vendetta to make a man want to hunt a mutant to the ends of the Earth.
And humans could be quite… vicious when they wanted to be.
Magneto turned to the same young psychic he’d used to broadcast his message, instructing her on what needed to be done. It would take a day or so for the suggestion to hold, but by the time Magneto released the secretary he would be of the firm belief that Mystique and her group were to be held responsible for his kidnapping and subsequent torturing. He had no doubt she had already planned a move against him, he wouldn’t expect anything less from her.
Hopefully Pyro had done as instructed and had the information he needed to push on with phase two of his plan.
