It would have jinxed one’s luck to have remarked on the weather. Well, if superstitions ever amounted to more than a reason for increased wariness of the possibility of things running afoul, whether they did or not. Down on the crowded (crowded, that is, in the sense of taking some sizable number of generally castle-bound students and setting them loose and mostly unhindered in their adventures) streets of Hogsmeade was a fleeting presence of sun. With the summer being nearly at an end, it seemed to be the last holding of that pleasantly warm temperature across the environs. Clouds up above did their part to keep the solar glare off the various metallic bits of sign hangings, wafting hazily across the sky without any really breeze to hurry them along.
Given the chummy inclination of the atmosphere, many shopkeepers had charmed their doors and windows to stay open. Even in passing by the shops at a leisurely pace, one might have gathered odds and ends of a conversation transpiring within.
