Dulce & Lucas do lunch [06 Dec 2010|06:15pm]

gastronomical
Dulce didn't like to eat by herself in public, as a general rule. It always seemed a little silly to take up a whole table by herself when it only took a few minutes to finish her usual lunch of a side salad and a sparkling water, plus people always gave her such awful looks when she ate alone. Maybe they thought she looked lonely or maybe they pitied the small amount of food on her plate but no matter the reason, Dulce didn't like it. Those strangers didn't understand how hard it was to stay thin and beautiful in a city filled with some of the best food in the world - they just didn't understand how hard it was to be in her shoes, that's all. But she didn't like always dining alone either, so occasionally she treated herself to a solitary lunch at the Saligia's in-house restaurant. Technically she was still eating lunch by herself but she felt less lonely when surrounded by the other diners - it gave her an excuse to people-watch and surreptitiously smell the food around her. Perhaps that was a little creepy and she would never admit to doing it but if she couldn't eat it, she didn't see why couldn't get as much enjoyment out of it as she could.

She nudged a piece of lettuce around her plate while the diner at the table to her left enjoyed one of the restaurant's signature steaks. It smelled divine and for a brief moment Dulce closed her eyes and breathed it in. She could almost taste it - obviously loaded with fat and calories and other terrible things but still delicious and so tender. Without realizing it, Dulce let out a very soft sigh; of happiness or of regret, it was hard to tell. She'd indulged in a taste of beef last month and she could just barely still recall the feeling of that single mouthful (not that she'd kept it down, but it was the momentary bliss that mattered) and now her dry salad didn't seem nearly as palatable. Even if the lettuce was perfectly crisp and devoid of calories, there was no denying that lettuce didn't exactly have the same flavorful impact as a single forkful of steak. Frowning slightly, she stabbed the offending piece of greenery with unnecessary force and sighed again. Maybe coming here hadn't been such a good idea.

in the morning, you know you won't remember a thing (open to Grey) [12 Oct 2010|04:14pm]

whatsmoderation
Waking up was one of the things Jude hated most in life. It was right up there with being out of drugs, having no money and the forced awkward dinners with his mother. Of course, the reason he hated waking up so much was because more often than not it was accompanied with a serious hangover. There was a searing pain between his temples the second Jude opened his eyes and acknowledged the morning and he very nearly closed them again. Instead, he instinctively glanced over for a sleeping body and was momentarily confused when there wasn't one. Usually when Jude slept over somewhere it was because he'd slept with someone. The absence of a typical one night stand was puzzling, at least until he sat up and looked around the room properly. The surroundings were pretty familiar -they would be, since he cleaned hundreds of rooms identical to it every week- but it was the added personal touches that clued Jude in.

Practically rolling out of bed, he half-heartedly pulled on the pants that were lying on the floor only to throw them back down when he realised he couldn’t get them on past his knees. Finding his own was proving too difficult so boxers it was as he wandered barefoot out of the bedroom and eventually into the kitchenette. As ill as he felt, Jude did manage a sheepish smile aimed in Grey's direction when he saw the other man. "So did I manage to call you this time or did someone do it for me?" Occasionally Grey got one of Jude's 'friends' asking if he’d collect him when he was too far gone to do it himself. More often than not though, he managed to do the slurred 3am phone-call all by himself. "Got anything to eat?" he asked after a moment, apparently not afraid to push his luck.
