Prompt: Table 1 :: #26 – Gloomy
Today was the sunniest day they’d seen in weeks. Rodney’d simply closed the mechanical blinds, blocking out the sickening cheer. There was no point in the sunlight now, not after he’d wished for it for three weeks and didn’t get it.
The earpiece on his nightstand chirped. He ignored it. Several minutes passed, then his door chimed. He ignored that, too.
Before he could move, his door opened and Ronon strode in. Rodney half-wished he’d locked it, but spoke up when Ronon reached him.
“Jeannie didn’t survive the crash.”
Ronon smoothed a hand over Rodney’s side.
“I know,” he murmured.

Prompt: Table 1 :: #9 – Candles
Author’s Note: I figured that “Land of the Ancestors” would be a Ronon/Pegasus Galaxy thing, since they’ve called the stargate the Ring of the Ancestors in the past.
Ronon sat facing Rodney on his bedroom floor. He rubbed scented oil onto candles they’d carved Jeannie, Hemi, and Marika’s names into.
He looked up at Rodney and cleared his throat.
“We light candles and say a prayer for our dead to help them move on to the Land of the Ancestors.”
Rodney shifted uncomfortably and muttered, “Ronon, really, I don’t need to do this.”
Ronon ignored Rodney long enough to place the candles in their holders and light them. He took another moment before he said, “Well, I need to.”
Without another word, he reached for Rodney’s hands.

Prompt: Table 1 :: #25 – Forgive
Rodney watched the vials as they collided with the wall. Today had been the shittiest day he’d had in months. This even included the Wraith attack on the city. They still didn’t know how the bastards found them on their new planet, which somehow didn’t compare to Rodney’s day thus far.
Counting the failed simulations, the brawl with Zelenka, and his panic attack, Rodney figured he would spontaneously combust at any moment.
He hadn’t seen him enter the lab, but Ronon’s comforting voice was suddenly whispering in his ear.
“Sometimes, you have to forgive the dead for leaving you behind.”
