What is everyone currently reading at this time? I'm curious.

I'm a little over half done with Homeland by R.A. Salvatore. I borrowed the Dark Elf trilogy a while back and I think it's time that I read it so I can send it back to its owner. ^_~ I like the book, but I'm looking forward to the next volumes since I hear it gets better.

But as far as my own books go, I'm reading Oliver Twist, which I only own because I needed something to get with my store credit at the used bookshop. And I've always been meaning to read this classic.

One read, 49 to go. [05 Jul 2009|11:49am]

nanny_ashtoreth
I started my challenge on 1 July of this year, and want to read 25 books by 31 December as part of my challenge.

I just finished my first book, The Witch in the Well by Sharan Newman, and enjoyed it. It was a good book for reading by the pool and a nice little medieval mystery. I didn't know that it was a part of a series when I picked it up, my eyes never quite made it that far down the cover, but happily it is a very good read on its own. Ms Newman weaves in enough details from the previous stories that someone reading the book as a stand alone book [such as myself] would not be confused as to why certain things were happening.

That said, there wasn't anything in the book that grabbed my attention so much that I'd rush right out the read the other books in the series. But, after reading this one, if I do see more of them in the library and have an empty 'to be read' spot on my night table, I just might be inclined to check it out.

Next up is Season of the Witch by Natasha Mostert. I peeked at the prologue and think that I will love this book.

He was at peace: his brain no longer blooming like a crimson flower.

My reading list.

Books 1 - 20 )

21. Shopaholic Ties the Knot – Sophie Kinsella
22. Angel of Music: Tales of the Phantom of the Opera – Carrie Hernandez
23. Sebastian – Anne Bishop
24. Shopaholic & Sister – Sophie Kinsella
25. The Asian Mystique: Dragon Ladies, Geisha Girls, and Our Fantasies of the Exotic Orient – Sheridan Prasso
26. Andre the Giant: A Legendary Life – Michael Krugman
27. Shopaholic & Baby – Sophie Kinsella
28. Fledgling – Octavia E. Butler
29. The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
30. Bone Crossed – Patricia Briggs

I'm currently reading Cornelia Funke's Inkheart right now. But I'm distracted by playing a new game for the PSP so it'll probably take longer than usual to finish it. ^^;;

Has anyone else read Fledgling? I found it to be something of a disturbing read.

First Post Here Ever... [21 Jun 2009|02:44pm]

I started this challenge when I was sick. It started with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. I was going to write reviews, but that's the only one I ever got around to writing a review for. :X I did, however, give some star ratings, which is something. Anyway, I've read 25 books so far, including the follow:

02.) The City of Ember
10.) Dead Until Dark
13.) Milkweed
19.) Alex Rider: Stormbreaker

As for the rest and what's on my list to read next, that can be found here, though I haven't yet decided on what to read next just yet. Any suggestions/recommendations?

So what are you all reading right now? How is it?

I've started The Jewel of Seven Stars by Bram Stoker and am enjoying it so far. I confess that Dracula gave me a love-hate relationship with Stoker, but I think I might end up liking this book. I'd never heard of it before until I happened to see it sitting on the shelf at Borders. When I read about an Egyptian queen awakening on the back cover's blurp, I knew this was a book for me! ^_~
