It had apparently taken a bit longer to prepare his little shindig than Niklaus had anticipated. Back in the cities where his family name was much more established, one could literally threaten a last minute occasion to rival the finest balls worldwide with an agitated glance. Apparently finely veiled threats were not appreciated here on Hiddekel Island, and Klaus maintained that Caroline had been scarier than he and Rebekah combined when tasked with pulling together a fancy ball last minute. Either the spines of those working to prepare the event were stronger than steel, or they actually couldn't pull off what he wanted in such a short period of time. He supposed it was all the better. It gave him time to send out proper invitations to all the proper Masters on the island, welcoming them, of course, to bring whatever personal slaves they would like.
Rebekah had been thrilled with the idea of a party, and Caroline had delved into her party planning with his sister. Elijah had been wary, and with due cause, but, in the end, Klaus determined that he already had the majority vote with the girls on board and had proceeded. Bastien had not been overly thrilled with the news, but his father had still insisted the childe attend the event. It would do him well to sulk less, and he'd even advised his new little slave to attempt to cheer him up and accompany him.
Now, as the night drew near, the estate was decorated to the nines, sparkling clean and accented with whatever arrangements Caroline and Rebekah had deemed tastefully appropriate. Klaus had, of course, footed the bill for the event, seeing as how it had been his idea. Suited staff and caterers stood by, ready with hors d'oeuvre and refreshment alike for the guests. There was, naturally, the finest selection of blood as well for any vampires present, though no slaves were made available for drink straight from the vein. No use sullying fine clothing, after all. That might be an event for another night. One of the larger rooms had even been converted into a ballroom of sorts for the occasion, complete with a distinguished band playing proper classical music.
Several doors were of course locked and kept off limits. The larger study was stripped of any private documents and open with numerous chairs set up for more quiet discussion. The dining hall and kitchen were open as well, and of course the "ballroom" was available. The doors to a portion of the gardens were open, encouraging those so inclined to take a stroll if the mood took them. Everything was picture perfect.
