Minnie sat up suddenly when she heard her door opening. She knew it wasn’t going to be her mother or father, they’d explicitly said they wouldn’t be back until the night, but was still surprised when LeChuck stepped into the room.
“LeChuck? What are you doing here?”
The pirate took a few glances at the room, unconsciously eyeing the pricier things in the room. “Can’t I visit ye?”
“Of course you can,” Minnie smiled, “you’ve just never been to my home before.”
LeChuck took off his hat and sat down at the end of Minnie’s bed. “It was lonely at the inn, I wanted to see ye.”
Minnie’s smile grew wider at knowing he had genuinely wanted to see her, he’d made little effort to see her in the last few days, and it had worried her. “You can see me anytime you want, LeChuck,” she patted the bed, urging him to sit next to her.
LeChuck returned her smile before moving up the bed and lying next to her. She blushed slightly and lay down as well, propping her head up with some of her pillows. “’ave ye talked to yer mother about us?”
“She doesn’t approve, she says that I’m above you.”
LeChuck frowned; wondering if killing her mother would be the easier option. “And what do ye think?”
Minnie rolled onto her side and looked him in the eyes. “I think you’re perfect for me.”
The couple embraced each other and shared a passionate kiss. LeChuck stroked Minnie’s hair slowly as they kissed and she blushed again, feeling childish about how easily she flushed. As they separated, he kept his hand in her hair, stroking her forehead with his thumb. “There’s something I want to ask ye, Minnie.”
“What is it?”
“I want ye to be my wife.” He said the words so bluntly that Minnie wondered whether she’d heard him right. The pirate leaned in to kiss her again but she jumped up, a hand over her mouth in shock.
“Really?”
LeChuck sat up as well, studying her face to see if her shock was positive or negative. “I mean it, Minnie.”
“Oh, LeChuck!” Minnie pulled him into another kiss. She could feel her eyes beginning to water and, at that moment, she was happier than she’d ever been in her life. She didn’t care what her parents thought, what her friends thought or what anyone in the world thought, as far as she was concerned her and her love were all that mattered. Her mind had already begun speeding toward the future; the wedding, their first days together, their future children... “So ye are happy, then?” The pirate said as he broke the kiss.
“More than I’ve ever been.”
“Good.” LeChuck got up from the bed and put his hat back on.
“Are you leaving?” Minnie frowned; she was excited and wanted to spend the rest of the day with her new fiancé.
“Ye want me to stay ‘ere?”
“Well, yes, I do,” the young woman giggled slightly, “I mean, my parents won’t be back until tonight and we’ve just got engaged. I’d like you to stay with me; you don’t have anything else to do, do you?”
“No, I can stay with ye.” LeChuck lay back down on the bed, placing his hands behind his head. Minnie lay next to him and placed her head on his chest, letting out a content murmur as she did. “What will yer mother say?” the pirate snickered.
“I don’t care what she says.” Minnie said sternly, “I’m going to be your wife, that’s all I care about.”
“Wife of the greatest pirate in the Caribbean,” LeChuck laughed.
Minnie laughed too, secretly very enthusiastic about claiming that title.
