FAQ
What can I claim?

A character, pairing, thresome/moresome, group of characters, or a fandom. Any fandom is welcome as is RPF and original fiction. If you're not sure if what you want is allowable, just ask. Pretty much anything can be claimed as long as you're sure you can write 25 stories about it.

How many things can I claim?

There is no limit as long as you are working on them all at the same time. If you genuinely believe you can work on ten claims at the same time without neglecting any of them, who am I to stop you? You're clearly insane, but that's your problem, not mine.

Can I write with a partner?

Yes, but writing with a partner means both/all of you write every fic. No alternating.

Can I split a claim with someone else?

Yes but state that when you claim and how many fics you'll each be writing

How many people can claim something?

Two people can claim any specific thing at one time for each table. However, if two people already have CSI that doesn't mean people can't claim Gil/Sara or Nick/Warrick or anything else they fancy or you can pick a different table and claim CSI on that. IE two people can claim the kinks table for CSI but then no one else can claim that table for CSI until one of them is done, but you could claim the dates table for CSI.

What's the minimum or maximum length?

At least 100 words. No word limit, write as much as you like.

What ratings are accepted here?

Any and all. Just give adequate warnings and hide anything R or above behind a cut please.

Are crossovers allowed?

Absolutely. As long as your claimed character/pairing/fandom is featured you can do whatever you want with them. In fact for one of the AU prompts it's required.

Is Real Person Fic allowed?

Yes it is now. (NB This is a chance to the rules)

Can I use previously written fic?

No, not unless you've rewritten it.

Can I use multiple prompts for one story?

No. One prompt per story.

What if there's a prompt I just can't write for?

Since I didn't give you any writer's choice prompts you can replace up to three of your prompts with other appropriate prompts. For the Movies table if your fandom is actually on the table you MUST swap that prompt for something else but that doesn't count towards your total of three replacements.

Do I have to write them in order?

Absolutely not.

Can I apply fic to more than one challenge?

It's okay with us as long as it's okay with the other community that you're writing for. The finished fics can of course go wherever you want.

Does my character/pairing/fandom have to be in the story?

Yes, that is the point

Are there any deadlines?

Deadlines? What are those? No but if you're not posting and there's a wait for the claim, I'll contact you to see if you're still interested.

Specific rules for specific tables

25 Cities – the city has to feature in some way but the fic doesn't have to be set in that city, it can be if you want it to be, but it's not required.

25 Vacations – as well as using each prompt as inspiration the story must in some way relate to the theme of a vacation, that can be a day off work or a world cruise, I'm not strict about it as long as the fic somehow relates to the overall theme.

25 Dates – as with the vacations the fic must relate to the theme of dates/dating as well as the individual prompt.

25 Moods – No challenge-specific rules.

25 AU – Each fic must be an AU of some kind, however you don't have to write 25 separate AUs. You can set them all in one AU or create 25 different AUs or anything in between.

25 Colours – No challenge-specific rules.

25 Foods - No challenge-specific rules.

25 Kinks - No challenge-specific rules.

25 Movies – This is not a rewrite challenge. If you want to rewrite the movie with your fandom then you can, but you don't have to. Rewrite it completely, steal and adapt the plot, or just write something inspired by it, it's up to you.

25 Random - No challenge-specific rules.

Headers and cuts:

I'm not going to tell you what header you have to use, but please include all the relevant information outside the cut. ie Title, Author, Fandom, Pairing, Rating and Warnings. Put the fic behind a cut or use a fake cut to your own journal if you want.

Please make sure you give the proper warnings for anything that might disturb people. If you want to put them at the bottom of the fic to avoid spoilers that's fine as long as you make it clear that's what you're doing and how to find them.

Tagging:

I'll give you a tag when your claim is approved. Please try to use them.

Okay, I checked this list but what I had in mind isn't on here. Can I write multiple stories from one prompt?

You have to post one story per prompt. If you want to write a series pr something based from one you can post all of them if you want but you still have to write fic for each of the other 24. You can't say oh I want to write 3 fics for prompt 1 so I won't use prompts 2 or 3 ...

Both original characters and totally original fiction are allowed. I thought that was in the FAQ but it isn't so I'll add it.

I'm not entirely sure how this works .....

Is the general idea that I would pick a pairing and claim them, and then pick a prompt table (such as 25 dates), and write a fic featuring that pairing for each of the 25 prompts in that table?

I'm sorry to be a pain -- I'm not new to writing fic, but I'm new to the idea of using prompts to write for.

Yes that's the general idea. Although you don't have to claim a pairing. It could be a character or a couple or threesome or a group or the series in general. Whatever you claim has to be the focus of each fic - they don't necessarily have to be in it though. For example if you claimed character A/character B you could feasibly write a fic all about character C's thought about the couple.

Thank you! I've already put in a claim for a pairing, and I have several ideas in mind for the table I've picked. I've not worked with something like this before, so I'm excited to get started.

By the way, I love your icon. That's one of my favourite movies.

I saw. I'll approve it this afternoon (I'm running on very little sleep and messing with a table when this tired is just a disaster waiting to happen lol). You obviously can't post till I approve you but you can pretty much assume I'm going to and start working on it :D

Bonjour. I have a question that wasn't answered in the FAQ. I read the comments when claiming a character and prompt list, and I see you need to have a table somewhere. Well, er, I want to keep the journal I have pretty realistic, so I would be using the prompts as prompts for journal entries. So, first person and all that. I was just wondering if I could use the prompts, claim the charrie, but not post the table on the IJ account. I don't have any other account... Is that okay?

You can post the table somewhere else but it has to be posted somewhere. You can always start another IJ, a free one, an use that to post the table. Then you link the table to the fics/entries. Check out someone else's table to see what I mean if you need to.
