Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I don't like the later games' giving Zero multiple weapons. For one thing, it makes him play too similar to X; if we have multiple characters, I'd like them to keep individual styles. And I especially don't like adding it as a new feature.

It breaks an established trend in a bad way. Plotwise, the saber has come to symbolize Zero personally. Along around X5~6, it even stands for his strength of heart (or what passes for it in a Repliroid). So it doesn't feel right to have him suddenly start using multiple weapons promiscuously.

Apparently he really did take his 100-year sleep after X6, and wakes changed for X7&8 (and CM, if you want to include it).

My friend is looking for a small gift for her Japanese penpal. Can anyone think of something Megaman X related she can find in the U.S. that's not readily available in Japan?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I found a page with logs of old RMX-related 2channel threads, including a handful on ComaMi going as far back as 2004. Of course they wander off-topic on occasion. Here's a suggestion for the ultimate end of the X series: Terminator 2. Featuring Dr. Wily as Skynet, X as John Connor, Zero as the T-800, and Sigma as the T-1000.

Personally, I do not want to see the Governor of California in a long blond wig.

Redesigns

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
For the most part, I like the character redesigns for X8. I’d much, much rather have them streamlined this way than shortened and chunky-looking as in Zero/ZX series.

X looks much older, though, and although I know he's the oldest Repliroid of all, it takes some getting used to. When they said he had the ability to continue to grow, I didn’t think they meant physically! I think someone at the Rockman Perfect Memories forum once posted screencaps showing X is now the tallest of the three. Height rule, anyone?!^^

Since X is the leader, I don’t mind his looking the part. It’s his game, after all! But by emphasizing X as leaderman, it looks like Capcom tried to sweep X7 under the rug as fast as possible, after jerking his characterization around like that. I don’t blame them for trying to hide it, I blame them for doing it in the first place.

I’ll admit it, the thing I don’t like about the X8 designs is Zero’s hair loss. Is it falling out because of all the stress, poor thing? Or is it like a fanart I saw, of X wearing a very smug smile and a big yellow boa labeled “100% something fur”?

Power, speed, and handling

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I haven’t played X8 yet, but according to the guidebook, there are differences in how the characters run now, as well as jump. Zero’s dash is the fastest, and he was also timed with the fastest kill (with the default weapon). Just from his name, I would have assumed Axl/Accel was the fastest, but he’s the slowest both at running and at killing. This should teach me not to make assumptions!

So if it’s speed you want, in X8 at least, instead of run & gun, it’s dash & slash!

Rockman X Command Mission guide book!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I've been looking through the ロックマンエックスコマンドミッション究極コンプリートガイド.

In addition to the stats you can see, like life and armor, the game also has hidden parameters. One of them is called "luck", and it influences how likely the character is to flee or to be attacked.

Marino's luck is 100%. If she's on the front line, your party has a better chance of fleeing successfully, and she's highly unlikely to be the first one targeted. Cinnamon and Axl also have high luck.

X's luck is 50%, exactly middling, and Zero's luck is zero. Apparently he won't flee even if you want him to, and he's the most likely to draw enemy fire.

This is not an actual quote, but I can imagine the game designers saying, "We created four new player characters just for this game, go use one of those instead!"
