[Final Fantasy IV] Edward "Edge" Geraldine x Rydia of Mist
Fandom: Final Fantasy IV
Pairing: Edward "Edge" Geraldine/Rydia of Mist
Theme set: A
Rating: This runs the gamut between G all the way to NC-17 methinks.
Warning[s]: potential heterosexual sex (I know, funny warning.. but well if you don't like it.. then don't click it, amrite?). Oh yes and alot of complex sentances because I fail at writing short, sweet and to the point.
#01 - Slow
This courtship could take forever and yet Rydia had striven to prolong it because she liked the thought that perhaps Edge could spend years trying to win her, it appealed to the part of her that wanted a man who would do absolutely anything to make her the Queen of his heart.
#02 - Steady
Edge liked to go fast however in this case Edge couldn't complain, for while they were moving at a snail's pace up Mt. Ordeals; still he could see tantilizing little bits of green panties from where Rydia climbed a little bit higher then him and that made slow and steady seem not quite so bad.
#03 - Breathe
"So did that count as a first kiss?" Edge inquired rakishly once Rydia had finished breathing life into lungs after a near-fatal swimming trip courtesy of Rydia's guardian Leviathan; he was rewarded with a smack to the head which promptly decided him in favor of calling it as such no matter how much she hmpfed about it.
#04 - Relax
She pretended that she didn't notice it when Edge wrapped his arms around her waist and so she settled back into his arms and feigned sleep so that she could suitably enjoy it without having to explain it to anyone.
#05 - Friends
"So when's your boyfriend coming back?" the trio moogles kupo'd at her side as she walked through the stark halls of Leviathan's kingdom; "Hopefully never.." she responded even though she knew that her summoun friends had only her best interests at heart.
#06 - Candle
"You are magnificient by candlelight, my enchanting mistress" came that sweet whisper to her ear that was all with a promise that managed to stealth it's way right between her legs and toy with her decadently until she was all wet and wanting inside.
#07 - Light
She was a thing of light when she wasn't pushing him away and he marveled at how vivacious she was so that it was almost a treat to stand back and just watch her as she tackled stoic Kain and nosed around in Cecil's pack for the sure candy that would be in there for her.
#08 - Stars
"I still miss my mother." Rydia said with tears in her eyes as she looked up at the stars from their perch on a hill just outside of the castle, she felt an arm lightly wrap around her shoulders and she leaned in gratefully to rest a head against a shoulder that while annoying, at least was always and infallibly there.
#09 - Sunrise
"Speak of this to anyone and I promise you Edward Geraldine, Future King of Eblan, you won't live to have an heir" Rydia hissed as she crept out of Edge's tent to greet the sun rising in the east while wearing what appeared to be Edge's cloak and nothing else.
#10 - Daylight
"Edge has been smiling alot today underneath that mask." Cecil observed quietly as both him and Rydia walked in the silence of the daylit afternoon; "Probably thinking idiot thoughts again." Rydia responded while inwardly she hoped that he was thinking about how she had been better then all the other girls he'd been with.
#11 - Stroll
Unacceptable that Edge should court anyone but her and so it was with sadistic glee that she sent a few water sprites to throw a damper on the parade of both Edge and his hanger-on; once the girl's shrieks sounded, all Rydia could do was walk nonchalantly away with a self satisfied smile on her face.
#12 - Food
He knew that she was teasing him, it was in the way that she delicately licked her fingertips of all of the juices of the fruit that seemed to send a sure shot of longing to coil right where it mattered and made him half-want with desire to be that succulent bit of fruit that she was attending to so devoutedly.
#13 - Rain
The rain storm had struck suddenly and Rydia was surprised when she felt a cloak drape around her shoulders and she glanced up to see that Edge was now walking behind her whistling nonchalantly and conspiculously without any protective covering; truly it made Rydia soften a little bit in subtle ways toward his suit.
#14 - Emotions
Like two children unused to emotions, they both bumbled with their words underneath moonlight while they strove to reveal their hearts without seeming too terribly gauche about the whole thing.
#15 - Dance
"You should ask her to dance.." Cecil offered as he watched Edge standing to the side with that fond expression on his face that denoted he was watching Rydia dance a circle around the floor; "Does that mean that you approve my of wooing of her?" Edge said as he glanced over at Cecil and then the expression on Cecil's face told him that all the Paladin wanted was for Rydia to be happy.
#16 - Lost
Lips met lips in something hungry, perhaps it was a joining of their mutual passions as their souls and tongues merged at the same time to become the manifestation of their desire to be lost in each other with no hope of ever being found.
#17 - Letter
Her first inclination was to take the letter with the royal seal and wad it up.. and that she did however after awhile she nonchalantly wandered over to pick it up; ironing the wrinkles out of it, giving it a once over before finally she stuck it in the box underneath her bed that was reserved for such things as these.
#18 - Colors
Being of the fickle sort, Edge considered himself lucky that his girl could be every colour of any mood; that way being bored out of his mind certainly wasn't an option.
#19 - Soul
They were both alone and struggling to rebuild places that had meant alot to the ones before them, and perhaps that was the tie that bound them up soul to soul; In Rydia, Edge could see that loneliness that he wouldn't even allow himself to exhibit, and in Edge Rydia saw someone who had the courage to at least try to move mountains.
#20 - Binds
Once the knots were assured, Rydia climbed onto Edge's lap and smirked down at him while she slowly peeled down the straps of her tight fitting top and revealed the rose-tipped peaks of her breasts; the groan that emitted from his lips was as satisfying as the arousal that dug it's way into her thigh and she wanted to tease him a little bit more before she deigned to loosen those bonds.
#21 - Links
"Here.. I made this for you, idiot." Rydia said as she took the linked daisy crown that she made and threw it right at Edge's head, it hit with a muffled rustle and then she stalked off; "What are you two? Preschoolers?" Kain inquired as he watched the exchange and then was startled as Edge proceeded to get up, "Yep, and I'm going to go pull her hair now"
#22 - Music
Despite all of his faults and annoyances, Rydia had to admit that Edge certainly could dance and the first time that she had been swept across the room while settled close into Edge's arms, she had been in heaven with only the music of Edward's lute to lend ambiance to the air of romance.
#23 - Drinks
Most girls would of been willing after two or three drinks, however much to Edge's challenge, Rydia was actually able to hold her liquor through some trick of fate and so it was neigh impossible to influence her to hook up with him on that score; it just meant he had to use more orthodox ways to get her to admit that he was indeed the greatest thing since sliced bread.
#24 - Hot
Those kisses were secret and yet burned Rydia to the very soul and even though she was a novice when it came to such things as these, still she made herself an adept learner, responding and perhaps even trying to wrest control from him in fits and starts.. as she wouldn't submit quite so willingly for she was a creature made of fire and she wanted to sear herself upon his very soul.
#25 - Cold
It was only after a cold shoulder from Rydia that Edge realized that he flirted with one of the barmaids the night before a little bit too much; the cold was so pervasive that it wouldn't staunch itself, even when he pulled his cloak around his shoulders to see if that could somehow deflect it.
#26 - Conversation
At times the other members of the group saw Edge and Rydia's relationship as waltzing around each other in confounding circles, each statement toward each other meant to tease, torment and inspire interest; The conversation was never point blank, always a brash statement followed by an adept rejoinder that had the other struggling for a witty comeback.
#27 - Blanket
When Edge went out scouting early in the morning, that was when Rydia crawled over to his pallet and slipped underneath the covers; certainly she didn't want to give any indication that she liked him and yet there was something so comforting and sleep-inducing about his scent that to bury herself underneath that blanket was a private treat.
#28 - Jewelry
"Jewels would not fit you.. I think that to do true justice to your beauty, one would have to pluck the fireflies from the night to quiver in your locks.." Edge whispered softly against her earlobe as they sat there underneath a tree in the early evening.. needless to say, Rydia was flattered enough that she'd continue to let him hold her close.
#29 - Pride
It rankled his pride when she turned away from him at the Court of Baron and his first and perhaps most childish instinct was to ignore her in turn when she tried to approach him; but pride got him no where and it felt worse when he heard her footsteps walking away from him.. that was when he turned around and called out her name loud enough for the entire court to hear, "Rydia!"
#30 - Lace
She was strong, no doubt about that.. and yet the first time that she laced her fingers in with Edge's, it was to give him permission to act as her protector and so she tood back a little behind him while he formed that barrier with which nothing could get through him to her and the joining of their hands seemed to heighten that shield.
#31 - Curious
"Why me?" Rydia inquired as she walked alongside Edge and waited for his response; "Oh, well I happen to think that green and purple look nice together, think about how cute our children will look!" Edge prattled along, even though he didn't want to admit that it was really because she was the only girl who had ever denied him and that in itself was a rarity.
#32 - Windy
On windy days, Edge liked to walk behind the group instead of charging in front so that when a gust of wind came and blew up the flap of Rydia's skirt, he was treated with a view of pert rear and green lace panties which usually illicited a loud 'woohoo' from him, much to the embarassment of Cecil, the annoyance of Kain and the fury of Rydia; and despite the beatings he wouldn't of changed his walking order for the world.
#33 - Parents
"You want my hand in marriage, you're going to have to defeat Leviathan and Ashura.. by yourself" Rydia had said matter-of-factly, which immediately caused Edge to want to go out and start training as quickly as possible.
#34 - Duty
It was a sad thing that they both had duty to adhere too and Rydia thought that perhaps she'd never see Edge again when their grand adventure was over however she found that Edge had sent little things to keep her mindful that he was still courting her so that she'd never forget that she was still his chosen target.
#35 - Crying
Never once did he ever tell her that she was stupid for crying over silly things like Mist and it was in his arms that she confessed that she wanted to rebuild Mist into something that her mother would've been exceedingly proud of because well she trusted him with her secrets even though he could be a trifle obnoxious.. she knew for certain that he'd never betray her confidences.
#36 - Share
"This is my secret place.. I come here when I want to think.." Edge said as he led Rydia to a little cavern underneath Eblan castle that was built to hold smuggled wine from Troia; "Am I the first girl you've brought to this place..?"; "Mmm.. yes.." Edge responded as he made no move to reach for her hand and yet he was pleased when she took the first step and reached for him.
#37 - Keep
A gold ribbon from her hair was a treasure, carefully stolen while she slept; the next morning she searched high and low for it, but she'd never find it because he had stored it in the same place where he kept the locket that his mother had given his father so long ago.
#38 - Close
Out of everyone, Rydia had to admit that she had kept closer to Edge afterwards, part of her had convinced herself that it was because someone needed to make sure that he didn't charge himself off a cliff, but she knew that it was because she feared that if she didn't, he'd go ahead and forget about her.
#39 - Simplicity
Tumbling onto sheets of fresh cotton while the sunlight poured in, the scent of clean laundry enfolding them while Edge tried to steal a kiss that she tried to pretend that she wasn't noticing.
#40 - Grave
"You idiot!" Rydia said as she held Edge's injured form close to her, berating his stupidity for charging into a fight unprepared even as she held him as tightly as possible to prevent him from leaving her just like her mother had not so long ago.
#41 - Tomorrow
A tomorrow didn't change Edge, many tomorrows didn't either and she always marveled at the fact that though he was pushing a decade more after their adventure, he still acted like the same eccentric and somewhat brash ninja that she had encountered so long ago; there was a comfort in tomorrows as well as comfort in things that always stayed the same.
#42 - Run
Going back to The Land of the Summouned Monsters had been her way of running from something that she had not been certain of.. she ran because she didn't understand her own feelings, having not gained the suitable life expirience in such delicate matters; finally when Ashura and Leviathan had locked her out of the land, she knew that her time of running had ended and she had to face him whether she was ready to or not.
#43 - Flying
Airship lessons was something they both looked forward to, for it meant that for Rydia there was that opportunity to glide the airship over the sea of sky that spread out before them, and for Edge it meant that he had an excuse to wrap his arms around her waist to steady her; together they enjoyed it because there was something freeing about exploring new places with each other.
#44 - Whisper
"I... love you.." Edge whispered practicingly against her ear as he held her close to him, sheltering her body with his own; she murmured in her sleep and then settled back down to slumber; He repeated it over and over against her ear, as he knew that he had to prepare for the day when he let her know that he had given his heart completely to her.
#45 - Window
"Get some singing lessons, moron!" Rydia said as she looked down from her window at the man standing there and serenading her, and even though she launched one of her pillows at him to get him to shut up, really that was to distract from the smile on her face at Edge's sweet gesture; it wouldn't do to let him know that he was touching her to the soul.
#46 - Apologies
"Rydia.." Edge said as he grabbed Rydia's wrist as she started to walk away in a huff, "I know I am idiot.. a hopeless flirt and impossible.. but I a hopeless and impossible idiot who is very much in love with you.. so please say you'll forgive me." he hadn't meant to dance with that girl, but Rydia had given him the cold shoulder and he had acted in accordance; when her eyes softened, he knew that he had hit the chord that would make her stay.
#47 - Bugs
"For god's sake, hide it!" Rydia gigglingly whispered as she grabbed the bug jar from Edge and then stuffed it in her pack and then she kissed his cheek briefly as reward before they went about their morning business; two hours later on their walk they both exchanged co-conspirator looks as Kain started to make wierd wiggly squeaking noises in his armor, mission accomplished.
#48 - Sleep
All the fights, prodding and poking seemed to disappear when they both fell asleep in each other's arms, of course upon waking Edge would tease and Rydia would take smacks at Edge.. but for now they were just that, the perfect picture of two lovers who moored themselves in each other so that they could recharge in their respective battles against the world.
#49 - End
"We did it!" Rydia said as she jumped into Edge's arms after the defeat of Zeromus, she didn't realize how it happened until she felt Edge's lips upon her own but she was too exhausted and elated to do anything other then respond, and so she did regardless of who could be watching and so for the first time she allowed herself to just -be- with Edge.
#50 - Doors
It had taken fourteen years, however upon the rebuilding of Mist, Rydia finally accepted Edge's proposal of marriage, and so on their wedding night it wasn't over the threshold of Eblan Castle that she was carried, but through the door of the little cottage that had been a faithful replication of her home growing up; finally after fourteen years he had convinced her that he was in it for the long haul, and finally.. just finally, she chose to believe him.
