Day 9 ON the nineth day of christmas, my true love sent to me Nine kick ass ladies
Malory Towers Alicia/Mary-Lou PG 256 words
It was the most improbable attraction ever. Alicia was angry and embarrassed about it, but even she was not able to overturn her feelings. The best she could do – and do it she certainly would – was to ignore it, to act as if it didn’t exist; as if she hadn’t woken up to the fact that Mary-Lou – shy, timid little Mary-Lou – was, in fact, a very attractive girl.
Not only that, though. Alicia found more and more in Mary-Lou to admire. She might be timid, but she was gently steadfast in standing up for what she believed in. She might be shy, but if she saw someone in need it was not in her nature to allow them to struggle alone. Alicia, who daily found herself impatient with those slower than herself (just about everyone, in other words), her sharp tongue and easy weapon, found the younger girl’s simple generosity incredible. She herself, for all her talents, could never have mastered those acts of kindness that came so spontaneously from Mary-Lou. The one thing she could perhaps do, though, was to tell her that she’d seen her good nature and appreciated it.
“Mary-Lou,” she said suddenly.
“Yes?” Mary-Lou looked up, a slight expression of alarm on her face. One never knew what to expect from Alicia.
And Alicia, that strong willed, care-for-nobody girl, found herself hesitating.
“Oh, nothing,” she mumbled.
She couldn’t do it. She just couldn’t risk the others finding out what she felt for Mary-Lou. It was, after all, the most improbable attraction ever.
Swallows and Amazons (Arthur Ransome) Nancy/John PG 132 words
Captain Nancy Blackett (Amazon Pirate, gold-miner, savage, explorer) did not want to fall in love. Particularly, she did not want to have fallen in love with sensible, stolid John – who would always know the degree latitude one was at but found it hard to think of the adventurous possibilities of anything.
It was awkward, too. They had been friends – chums – fellow Captains for years. The addition of attraction was an unwelcome extra.
She hadn’t mentioned it to him. In fact, she had gone out of her way to mention no such thing! But no matter how much shivering of timbers she did, or how often she called herself a galoot, Captain Nancy could not get away from it.
She was in love with John Walker. And NOBODY was going to discover it.
Harry Potter Tonks/Remus PG 28 words
“You don’t have to fight my battles for me,” Remus said wearily.
Tonks looked at him straight.
“I don’t intend to. I’m going to fight them with you.”
Harry Potter Lily/James PG
“You’re not just an idiot, you’re the biggest idiot in the world,” Lily said angrily.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” said James ruefully.
“It’s raining,” she said, pushing him out of the house. “You’ll get wet.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
She slammed the door.
Harry Potter Luna PG Set in the fight near the end of HBP 94 words
“Luna!”
The low voiced exclamation of the Ravenclaws in her year was… for once, was almost awed. Luna had her wand out and was duelling with two adult wizards – Death Eaters, both. She disposed of one with a well-placed hex, then saw off the other with a surreal mix of spells that surely no one but Luna would have thought to try together. In the brief moment’s rest from the hiatus of the attack on Hogwarts, she glanced round at her classmates and smiled.
“I always did want to be a kick ass lady.”
Harry Potter Lily/Severus; Lucius/Severus PG13 198 words
“Lily Evans. What a pleasant surprise.”
“I can’t say the same for you, Malfoy.”
“Shame! Where are your manners?”
“Same place as your morals,” she flashed back. “I want Severus.”
Neatly plucked brows were raised.
“Indeed? Rumour had it that that was exactly what you did not want.”
Lily glared dangerously at him, but kept her voice calm.
“I wish, Lucius, to speak to your house guest Severus Snape.”
Lucius made a little moue with his mouth.
“But does he want to speak to you?”
Frankly,” said Lily, holding on to the last threads of her temper, “I don’t care.”
Lucius smiled.
“He is, you see, a little… tied up… at present.” He opened the door wider, and Lily felt her mouth drop open. There was a bed in the room, and Severus was spread across it, naked, arms and legs tied to the bedposts. “Of course, you could always join us?” Lucius suggested.
It was a well known fact that Lily Evans was never - never - at a loss for words. Usually. Nor did she retreat from battle.
“No,” she said, at length, and backed away. Occasionally, just occasionally, discretion was the better part of valour.
Harry Potter Andromeda Black/Ted Tonks PG 316 words
Andromeda had known before she even mentioned the subject to her family that they wouldn’t like it. They’d thought it bad enough when she started calling herself ‘Andy’ rather than the whole of her excessively flowing name.
“It’s a boy’s name, dear.”
Mother had not meant the ‘dear’ in a friendly way. It was merely “how one should speak to one’s daughter.” Heaven forbid that she did anything that was not precisely by the rulebook.
“What do you want me to call myself, Mother? Drommy?”
“I really can not see what you object to in your given name.”
But Mother was fine with Bellatrix shortening her name to Bella; Narcissa being Cissa to those closest to her (“though not to the lower classes, Cissa;” the lower classes comprising anyone who was not of Pure-blood wizard stock). Her objections were confined to Andy.
It wasn’t even as if Andy was a natural rebel. She gave a thought to her cousin Sirius, whose greatest ambition seemed to be to embarrass the family as much as possible, whenever possible. Andy had been perfectly happy to tow the family line whenever it was convenient. She wasn’t interested in breaking rank for the sake of it. But Ted was a wizard. Yes, his parents had been Muggles, but really – how many families honestly showed a pure line back to the days of Salazar Slytherin? Andy was certain that she was not the first Black to have married away from purity, whatever the family claimed.
“I am going to marry him, and you can’t stop me,” she said.
“The day you do, you will be struck from the Family Tree,” her Mother had threatened.
Andy had shrugged. If that was the worst threat they could offer, she thought she could cope. And as it turned out, she coped Just Fine. Better, if truth be told, than the Family. Their problem, not hers.
Harry Potter Tonks/Luna PG 291 words
The first time Tonks met Luna, she thought the younger girl was crazy. The second time strengthened her opinion; and by the third meeting Tonks was sure of it. Not evil – bad – crazy, just apparently living in a different world to most ordinary witches.
Luna knew. Luna always knew. Sometimes she wondered what it would be like to have someone accept her as she was: to let her simply be Luna Lovegood, not ‘the mad blonde girl’. She had given up hope of it actually happening, in truth. In the past she had considered trying to blend in, to ‘fit’ the accepted mould. But she rejected the idea for two reasons. Firstly, no matter how hard she tried, she could never imagine being like the others; but secondly (and most importantly), she couldn’t bring herself to live a lie. When it came down to it, in Luna’s mind – integrity mattered.
It took until their tenth, rather unexpected, meeting for Tonks to recognise Luna’s position – recognise and admire. Tonks herself had always stood out from the crowd: being a Metamorphmagus tended to have that effect. In the end she had learned to embrace her difference – almost to be proud of it. Luna wasn’t like that. She knew she didn’t fit in; regretted it, but refused to deny who she was simply for the sake of acceptance.
In the end, it all happened so very simply. Fast, but sure.
“I know you think I’m loony,” Luna said utterly without rancour, after watching Tonks’s face as she had explained the dangers of Goglieves (which hid behind wardrobes if houses were kept too clean and – Luna said – came out only to cause havoc).
“Yes,” said Tonks. She smiled. “But do you know I love you?”
Harry Potter Ginny/Harry R 214 words
I am your princess.
When we make love, you are gentle; you are kind; you are delicate of touch. You treat me as though I am made of porcelain.
I understand your need for tenderness. After all you have been through, Harry, I know that the thought of force – of a show of strength – appalls you. You have had to be trong too often. You want to leave that behind you.
So how can I say this is not what I want? How can I tell you I want you to fuck me hard, to thrust into me over and over again until I scream out your name? How can I say I need the sharp edge of pain to my pleasure? That I want to be hurt, to see the bruises on my skin the next morning as signs of your possession? That I want to cry, I want to scream – I want you to make me beg for it? How can I make you understand that I need more than gentleness? That I need you to strip me down to my very essence of flame and passion – of pure, hot desire that cares not how it burns?
You are my love, my best friend. I share everything with you. Everything but this.
