Rules
[info]1000words is a prompt community unlike any other. Other communities insist that you claim a character, a pairing, a fandom, or even a genre and then produce X number of pieces based solely on that subject matter. All that [info]1000words insists is that you write!

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

1. Glance over the the prompt tables. Note two things. First, there are ten different categories of prompts. However, every prompt within each category is individually linked to a separate picture.

2. Choose ten prompts. Not ten categories--ten prompts. You can choose to write within a single category if you like, but feel free to build your own list à la carte. Write down what prompts you have chosen so you do not forget them later on. Your choices can be based on the picture or the word.

3. Decide how much you can honestly commit to writing and set yourself a tentative deadline. To be posted in the community, responses to prompts must be at least 100 words each, but do remember that pictures are often worth a [info]1000words. Either way, the point is to set a wordcount target, a deadline, and try to match them both.

4. Join the community and introduce yourself here. Tell us a little bit about what you enjoy writing and what your targets are. It would be greatly appreciate if you would list what prompts you have chosen as well, but these can be changed at a later time if a certain prompt no longer thrills you. Simply append your original comment or make a new one. Note: the mods will give you a tag for your entries once you have introduced yourself.

5. When posting your prompts responses in the community, please insert the following information at the top of each post:

Title:
Subject: (character, pairing, fandom, genre, what have you)
Author:
Beta: (if applicable)
Prompt: (such as Abstract 02 - Arc)
Ratings/Warnings:
Disclaimer/Claimer: (who owns the character or likeness)
Critiques: (yes/no)
Summary: (appreciated if you can think of one, but not necessary)
<lj-cut>
Actual story goes in-between these two tags here.
</lj-cut>

Also, please do not lock your entries or turn off comments.

6. When you have completed all your prompts, let us know here!

7. Start again if you like!

MORE QUESTIONS?

Q - But what do I write?
A - Whatever you like. While you can stick to a single character, pairing, fandom, or genre, we feel that being forced to stick to a lone subject matter can cause writer's block. At [info]1000words, that's the last thing we want, so feel free to hop from subject to subject.

Q - Is "real person" fiction allowed?
A - Yes, but it must be clearly marked as fiction in your header.

Q - Are personal journal entries allowed?
A - Yes, but they must be unlocked, just like every other post, as well as rated for content.

Q - Do I have to beta my posts?
A - No, but betas can be very helpful in taking your writing to the next level of competency.

Q - Can I crosspost to other communities, journals, et cetera?
A - Of course, but please make reference to this community when doing so.

Q - Can I hotlink to the images?
A - No. We would be forced to kill you. Seriously, the images are hosted on our private webspace. If we find out that anyone is abusing our bandwidth, they will be banned from the community.

These pictures are incredible. It's going to take awhile to choose. :)

Does the last mean no linking the images period (say, creating our own personal prompt table), or just no linking via img src?

If you would like to link to the image itself using a weblink, i.e. an "a href" tag, go ahead. Also, you could link to the webpage that specific image is on, i.e. the main category page, and simply mention what prompt you're using. Either one is fine.

However, please please please don't use the "img src" tag. We'd appreciate that very much.

I just wanted to set up a prompt table like like the one for the asylum (only, you know...smaller), with the prompt linking to the picture via an "a href" tag and then the title of each story linking to the story itself.

I run a database at LiveJournal, and I am trying to start another one on InsaneJournal, [info]150_asylums. I was wondering if I could archive [info]1000words.
