Shamelessly stolen from [info]plush:

Livejournal

Working hard everyday to make it as convenient, quick, and simple as possible for every red-neck, quasi-religious, shamelessly bigoted, hopelessly hypocritical, hyper-sensitive little asshat to determine what kind of content will and will not be allowed, for the protection of it's revenue stream safety and well being of the precious, innocent children.

Because SixApart just doesn't have the manpower to censor you all, and it's easier to dupe it's users into doing it for them.

Oh, aren't they just special little snowflakes?

Well, there goes my journal! It's lewd, crude, rude and socially unacceptable. Just like me.
So is your icon.

But pretty.

*happy sigh*
It's lewd, crude, rude and socially unacceptable. Just like me.

And thank god for that...I love you this way. ;)

I knew it was only a matter of time before they fucked up again.
Is it BAD and WRONG of me that reading through the lj_biz post of the subject has made me a very cheerful and amused [info]07refugees mod?

Oh, I'm an awful person.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM 6A!
I was thinking about making that comment in the post lol. =;D
Disapproval Santa disapproves!
Thanks for so neatly summing up what has been boiling in my brain since I read that today in LJ News.
I wonder if violence, blood and gore is considered "Adult"?
By the way, if anyone's interested in what those adult content lj-cuts are about, there's discussion here.
What you've said here is exactly why this stuff pisses me off.. ugh, fucking prudes.
Yeah I've just finished reading through (so far) 14 pages of comments and the thing I can't get past is that if you're not logged in... you're MORE likely to see something you don't want to, because you can't see what to avoid. *headdesk*

And if you're reading a fanfic journal and they all have these "explicit content" cuts, you can't see what story is in what post. Kind of hard to find the one you want to read, really...
Quick! Everyone flag the Pro Ana comms!
Shit, that's actually a really great idea.
..I wonder what kinds of activity would be considered "illegal"? Kinky/gay sex? Running a red light? What?
I think it just promotes the silly mentality these days that it's perfectly acceptable to get up in arms about every little fucking thing that might "offend" you. "Offensive Content" could mean ANYTHING. For instance I read an article earlier this morning about a British woman in Sudan who was arrested because she offended Muslims when she allowed one of her students to name a teddy bear Muhammad. They were actually marching in the streets yelling for her execution. Anyone can find anything offensive for any reason, no matter what guidelines LJ puts down for what is regarded as such. I mean do they honestly think that the entire userbase is going to agree with their definition of "offensive"? People are just going to see the buttom and interpret how they want to interpret it.
Well, they're not about to alienate their fundie population or their advertisers, so I daresay their definition is very different to ours. I think they're actually relying on the fundies to flag these things so they can reenact a bold/strikethrough, but of course, I'm pessimistic about anything Six Apart does these days. :P

That story, when I read it a few days ago, made me cry.
i know, i was depressed all week just thinking about it :/ i dont get how people can get to the point where they devalue life so much that they'd kill someone for something so stupid...
In response, I wrote porn about the LJ pencil. *siiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

I'm very suspicious about why they introduced this just before they sold out to SUP. As one user wittily put it, 'we're in hot water now'...
Thank you. I used to write blogs and just..........write. You know, just let it all out from my brain onto my computer screen. Now that I must consider what Im writing and how it hsould be marked (by default my journal is set to Adult Concepts...but I know I will make posts with my artistic nude modeling which is considered "explicit" by LJ staff) which leaves potential for the naturalness and frankness of my writings to be diminished as I have to sit and consider possible consequences for not marking my entries appropriately.

Ugh....I think my LJ's days are numbered.

Interesting about all the content-flagging hoopla - and then the revelation about the SUP sale.

Makes me wonder if the "flagging" isn't TO PROTEKT TEH CHILDERNZ after all, but to catch Russian LJ users who don't toe the political "line."
