Response from Pepsi.

Several of you asked for me to let you know if/when I got a response. This popped up this morning:

Dear Mr Whelan

Thank you for your email. We apologise for the delay whilst we have looked into this matter further.

We have instructed our media buying agency to ensure that our adverts only appear on websites that meet our company guidelines. Where we do not approve of the content of a website, we will ensure our advertising is removed.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Yours sincerely

oooooo
Yeah - now it looks like it's already been pulled, given the lack of Pepsi stuff on the site. But it does make it sound like they didn't know.

So, thumbs up to them anyway - not exactly a quick response in terms of the E-Mail, but definitely a quick response in terms of action.
Sweet, glad they responded.

Now, question is: will LJ pull the content, or will we get to inform their *next* corporate sponsor about it?
Most likely the latter more than the former. With LJ's track record of beign honest quickly going down the toilet, there's more cause for concern for their advertisers than there would be if they would stop clutching their tinhats.
Actually, i just checked the links, and it looks like the user's journal has *finally* been suspended.
I dislike it when people blame all this on LJ. Lets remember that people only started being annoyed with LiveJournal's decisions when they were acquired by 6A.
Except LJ's had a bad habit of "suspend first, ask questions later" even before 6A aquired them.
I did wonder whether it was LJ or Pepsi that pulled the ads, now we know. Somehow I really didn't think LJ were actually listening to customer complaints about the advertising. :P
No - I have to say, I think a lot better of Pepsi for doing it. They now come across as having not done their homework first, as opposed to willfully moronic.
